Re: Is it compulsory to have maths in 12th for Economics honours?
No, it is not compulsory to have Mathematics in 10+2 for pursuing Economics Hons. in future.
You can pursue B.Sc (Hons.) in Economics which requires only Science stream after 10+2. Hence, you can go for it even after studying PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) but some colleges have their own criterias and requirements. Introduction to B.Sc (Hons.) in Economics : B.Sc (Economics Hons) is a Bachelor's Degree course in Science which includes the study of production, distribution and Consumption of goods and services. It is a three year degree course consisting of 6 semesters. The syllabus is provided in the attachment. At the end of the six semester the candidate attains enough skills and knowledge to gain a job in Economic world through Campus or off Campus placements. ** Eligibility Criteria : * You must have completed your Intermediate course with Science with atleast 50% score. * The Intermediate course must be completed from a recognized Board/University or any equivalent qualification. ** Types of Job after B.Sc Economics Hons. : * Health Economics Manager * Assistant Professor * Health Economics Reimbursement Manager * Credits and Transaction Management (CTM) Associate * Macro-Economic Research Analyst * Research Associate * Content Developer * Data Entry Operator * Teacher/Tutor // Download the syllabus below . . . |

Re: Is it compulsory to have maths in 12th for Economics honours?
In most of top universities, for Bachelor's degree in Economics, mathematics is a compulsory subject. For example, in Delhi university, mathematics is compulsory in 10+2 for admission in Bachelor's degree in Economics.
You need to check with university in which you are interested. Some university or college may allow candidates without mathematics to get admission in Economic Honours. |

Re: Is it compulsory to have maths in 12th for Economics honours?
Normally, in most of the colleges and universities combination marks of Maths and Economics are asked during the admission of BSc Economics Hons, few colleges and universities mostly private universities only ask for economics mark during admission in BA Economics Hons. So, if you desire to pursue career in Economics field then you should keep maths and economics in your 10+2 to avoid any future inconvenience.
