Candidates passed graduation in any discipline are eligible to appear for SSC and Civil Services examination.

So, you are eligible to pursue any course in degree to appear for entrance examination, but you have to qualify in entrance examination for final selection.

For recruitment as SI you have to appear in SSC CGL entrance examination conducted by SSC where as for IPS you have to appear and qualify in UPSC examination.
