Course to learn about Stock Exchange and Trading?

I would like to know about the Sensex and what does it indicates in detail. I am aware of the fact that it shows us the share prices fluctuations of the blue chip companies. But what does the going up of Sensex and its coming down implies practically? And what is its unit of measurement? Sensex touched 20,000; What does it connote? Is there any course to learn all about this?

There are various types of jobs- stock market dealer, analyst, trader, broker etc. available in Stoke Exchange and for that various types of courses are there.

Some of Few short term and famous ones are as follows:-

Dear Friend,

I am really pleased to answer your query...
I was expecting queries from students on the subject of stock market...

Your query is even much appreciable and heres is your answer for it..

Actually the very big companies/ organizations/ businesses/etc., need a
very very large amount of capital for conduction of their events.Hence, they
divide the capital requirement into small parts called as SHARES that can
be invested by a common man even.

The price of each share is decided by the promoters and board of directors
of the organizations.. Every investor is treated as owner of the company
for his share.

The ups and downs in the price of shares depends on many factors like...
**Profits and losses of the company
**Shareholder value
**market value
**announcements
**and many more..

Basically, there are very very few institutes for training people about the
stock exchange and trading subjects particularly in india...
Very few institutes are available only at metros...
  • UTI Institute of capital Management at Mumbai & Chennai
  • Money Mantraa,Centre for Share Market Education & Awareness,
    Indore(M.P.)
  • BSE Training Institute, Mumbai
  • Institute of Finance and Investment Planning, Mumbai
But there are ample number of people(individuals) who train public about trading.
Watch NDTV profit, almost every moment you can find great economists
advising regarding the trading and companies..

And even lots of local economists in and around every locality train public for a basic fee..

You can also find good books in the market intended for the training of
dummies in stock market.

For any doubts or questions about the trading/ Stocks, you can post in
this forum. I will soon get to you.

Hi,

Good question!!!

The sensex is an "index". What is an index? An index is basically an indicator. It gives you a general idea about whether most of the stocks have gone up or most of the stock have gone down.

The sensex is an indicator of all the major companies of the BSE.

The Nifty is an indicator of all the major companies of the NSE.

If the sensex goesup, it means that the prices of the stocks of most of the major companies on the BSE have gone up.

If the sensex goes down, this tell you that the stock price of most of the major stock on the BSE have gone down.

Just like sensex represents the top stocks of the BSE, the NIFTY represents the top stocks of NSE.

2. Calculation:

Note:It is calculated using the "free float market capitalization method".

The SENSEX is supposed to be an indicator of the stocks in the BSE.It is supposed to show whether the stocks are generally going up or down.

To ahow accurately, the sensex is calculated taking in to consideration stock prices of 30 different BSE listed companies.
This is world wide accepted method as one of the methods for calculating a stock market index.

Please note:The method used for calculating the sensex and 30 companies that are taken into consideration are changed from time to time. This is done to make sensex an accurate index and so that it represents the BSE stocks properly.

Really good question which only several people ask and fewer actually know.

sensex is an index which shows the rise or fall in the market capitalization of

top companies. It was set around 1991 when the index was at 100... the total market

cap of all selected companies was taken as 100... as the companies have grown in size

and market cap has increased it shows how many times they have grown.

At 20000 level the market cap is 20000/100= 200 times that of 1991... and every

100 increase will mean a net addition of 1991 market cap to sensex.

Mostly changes are speculative except over a period they show the actual market cap

under stable condition.

There are several Institutes which offer specialized training in stock trading.

Foremost will be the courses offered by BSE and NSE themselves.

NMIMS University Mumbai, India

CFA course offered BY ICFAI.. is a really good course to learn about trading and stocks
Aegis Institute of Financial Markets (AIFM) Delhi/NCR, India

Post Graduate Diploma in Capital Markets

BSE Training Institute Mumbai, India

Certificate Programme on Capital Markets (CPCM)

Focus School of Finance & Business Bangalore, India

Advanced certification in Capital Market

NMIMS University Mumbai, India
MBA (Capital Markets)

The best course will be one of the following two:

1.MBA(finance ) from IIM's NMIMS
IIFTa
great salaries and great companies... expert seniors to learn from.
2. CFA-AIMR US-- the real CFA can be taken from india itself .. like a self study programme
