IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .
If you have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.There is no marks criteria.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.

The process for IPS exam -

1)Preliminary Exam
2)Mains Exam
3)Interview

If you have completed one steps then you are applicable for Next Steps.

IPS Stands for Indian Police Service Examination.

To become a IPS Officer , the candidate need to crack the Civil Service Examination.Civil Service examination can be divided into three stage :-

• Preliminary Exam
• Main Exam
• Personal Interview.

Important dates :-

• Date of Notification :- 04.02.12
• Last date for receipt of application :- 05.03.12
• Date of Written examination :- 20.05.12

Eligibility Criteria :-

The candidate must be completed graduate degree with any desire subject from a recognized University or equivalent qualification and final year of degree course may also eligible to apply for IPS examination.There is no percentage required for this examination and there is no backlogs at the time of appearing.

The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on 1st august of the year of examination and upper age limits is applicable for SC/ST/OBC and Other reserved categories.5 years for SC/ST,3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen.

Attempts :-

• 4 attempts :- General candidates.
• 7 attempts :- OBC candidates.
• No limits :- SC/ST candidates.
