Difference between AC and DC?
what is difrence between ac and dc...could u please explain me the exaact difference

AC is an alternating current (the amount of electrons) that flows in both directions and DC is direct current that flows in only one direction; the product that is flowing being electrons. AC power is what fuels our homes. The wires outside of our house are connected at two ends to AC generators. DC is found in batteries and solar cells. Both AC and DC employ magnets to repel electrons. Best wishes... |

Direct Current or DC is current with unique direction. When a resistor is connected across the terminals of a battery, a current is established in the circuit. It goes from the positive terminal to the negative terminal via the external resistor. The magnitude of the current also remains constant. It is direct current.
Alternating current or AC is the current in a resistor or in any other element whose direction changes alternately. It can be produced from a source that can generate varying emf for example AC dynamo. |

AC means Alterate current in which frequency of current change alternate.
DC means Direct current in which frequency of current remain constant. Two general examples i am giving you here- 1-AC is that which comes in our home through wires and DC which we get through torch cell. 2-AC doesn't charge the battery but DC charge. |

DC batteries are designed for a specific voltage, which cannot travel very far without losing energy. The strength of the energy from AC can be controlled however, by the use of a transformer, which can either increase or decrease the energy output.AC is good for motors and lights not much else. DC powers every piece of electronics in you house. |

DC is unidirectional current flow, current that flows in one direction only.
AC is a current flow that alternates directions. first traveling in one direction then reversing and traveling in the other direction. That is the only difference between the two. Does the current change direction or not? If it changes direction periodically than it is AC if it always travel in the same direction its DC. You can have DC sine wave so long as the voltage never crosses zero and changes polarity which would change the direction of current flow. This is what happens when you bias an AC voltage with a DC voltage, the two voltages add together and if the DC voltage is high enough the AC voltage can't reduce the sum total of the two voltages enough to cause a polarity change (cross zero such as going from pos to neg). Thus you have a varying DC voltage that looks like a sine wave but the current is always traveling in the same direction. |

AC is Alternating current and DC is direct current. AC current is one whose magnitude and direction changes periodically. These are usually used for transmission and distribution purposes. DC is the one which a constant direction and magnitude. They are commonly found in constant power sources like batteries.

AC or alternating current is literally a current that alternates in the direction that it flows.
Alternating current can be with some direction just as a vector quantity. DC is direct current and as is implied by the name the current flows only in one direction. So DC current is a steady current which we use in our homes. |
