I am pursuing part time BCA (final year) from IGNOU. I had mathematics in 10+2. I intend to give MCA CET and do full time MCA from Mumbai Univ. I hear, after BCA, MCA course duration is only 2 years unlike the normal 3 years duration, but I am not sure.
I would be really thankful if someone could shed some light on it.

No that is not true.

MCA is a three years course....
even if you a BCA student, your duaration for MCA will be 3 years.

MBA is a 2 years duration course, not MCA.

MCA is the right option for you.

No, The Duration Of MCA Course are Normally 3 Years. And to get admission in this course you need to be a graduate with Maths in 12Th examination.

After BCA If you can do MCA then the duration was Same I.e 3 Year. After Completing BCA, MCA course duration will be same.

In Most of the colleges the Duration of MCA Course was of 3 year. So please dont be confused the duration of MCA Course was 3 year after BCA.

If you think that the Duration Of MCA Course was 2 Year after BCA then its better to contact the University and Clear your Doubt, You can contact the University who offers the MCA course in your State or City, They will definitely Help You and Give You Proper Information. But As per my Knowledge the Duration of MCA course After BCA was 3 Years.

And Admission through Lateral Entry Are only for Master degree candidates, After BCA you are Not eligible for Lateral entry to get admission direct in 2nd Year.

but some universities like ignou has 2 year duration for graduates with b.tech or b.e degree.

MCA is the Master of Computer Application and its a 3 year duration course.All the universities have 3 year MCA course.It doesn't matter whether you have done BCA or BSc but for MCA you will be enrolled for 3 years.So don't be confuse just check the details of university from where you want to do MCA and get admission there.

the duration of the MCA course is three years and it will remain three years for the student passing out from BCA. there is no two year MCA for them.
there are some colleges and universities which provide five year integrated BCA + MCA course. but they are also not offering two year MCA. so you must clear your doubt. there is no two year MCA course.

The MCA course is a Masters Degree course in Computer Application.The duration of the course is three years.

To apply for the MCA course the candidate should have Graduation with mathematics in 12th level.

If a candidate comes from BCA background then for him also the course is of three years.

So,for you also the course is of three years.

Hi , yes my friend the duration of MCA is two years, graduations are of three years, but masters degrees are of two years, MCA,MA,MCOM any example you can see.
so dont worry be assured of 2 years course

You are joining Mumbai university for persuing MCA after completing BCA. Very good!! Now you are in confusion why this course is not of 3 years duration but is only of 2 years duration. Okay let me clear your confusion.
You must be aware of duration of B.Sc, B.Com or B.A, right? Duration of all these courses are 3 years. These are under graduate courses.
Now you must also be aware of duration of post graduation courses like M.Sc, M.Com or M.A degree. Duration of all these courses is 2 years.
Remember duration of all post graduation courses are 2 years not 3 years. Got it..??

After completion of BCA , BSC(CS,IT) , the course duration is same .

From my point of view , there are no institution in india to provide 2 years MCA course.

So don’t worry.

After completing B.C.A Course,M.C.A is a best option.

generally the duration of course is 3 years but some university provide
2 year MCA course for its student who have done BCA from same
university......

but maximum university provides 3 year MCA course either you are BCA from

I think IGNOU MCA will be better for you. Already you have done BCA, so you know the procedure and the norms of this university. Also for you the admission will be more advantageous in IGNOU. No, you did not hear it correct. In every university and college MCA is most definitely 3 year long and NOT 2 years. If you find a college that has 2 year MCA, then know this, that MCA is not valuable from job point of view. After IGNOU MCA you can go for any well known IT jobs. Check for such jobs in www.naukri.com or www.monsterindia.com. The course in IGNOU is 3 year long and will cost you around Rs.48,000-Rs.50,000 for the entire course. You can get the admission forms in the web address www.ignou.ac.in. Think about it.

only on continuing your master degree from ignou then mca is of two years only...in that case you get admission in 2nd year of mca directly....for all other conditions mca is of 3 years universally.

Guys the MCA is of 3 Years but now in Punjab Technical University the MCA course is of 2years.

I have one doubt that i completed my intermediate vocational group and i am pursuing degree bca after that i want to join mca, but i heard that vocational group are not allowed for mca, why??
