No, Economics is not important for clearing the CPT level of Chartered Accountancy Course.

ANY STREAM (ARTS,COMMERCE OR SCIENCE)STUDENT CAN JOIN CHARTERED ACCOUNTANCY

To have any paritcular subject in class 12th is not important to clear the foundation level

10 passed student can register himself for CA course but to give away the exams of chartered accountancy he/she has to wait

till he/she completes hi/her 12th from recognized board.

There are 3 level in CA which candidate have to clear to be Chartered Accountant.

3 Stages of CA

Common Proficiency Test(CPT)
IPCC
Final examination

Subjects of CPT

Fundamental of Accounting
Mercantile Law
General Economics
Quantitative Aptitude

Chartered accountancy is the course cover various topics of finance Management of company or organization.

Duration of Chartered Accountancy course - 4.5 YEARS.

CA FEE

CA fee is around 40000/- to 45000/-.

The syllabus of CPT comprises of following subjects.

Fundamentals of Accounting (60 marks)
Mercantile Laws (40 marks)
General Economics (50 marks)
Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)

The detailed syllabus is attached herewith.

As you can see that the General Economics section is of 50 marks only.

The content of General Economics section is fundamentals only which a normal person
can understand by studying on his/her own.
It doesn't require vast knowledge of Economics. Only fundamentals of few topics
of economics are covered in CPT syllabus so you should not be worried in this regard.

Refer the syllabus of exam and prepare accordingly.

75% of the syllabus is non economics so even if you score bit lower in Economics section,
you can cover it up by scoring high in other sections.
