yes ofcourse...
GATE exam is not for doing IES...
You need to qualify its eligiblity criteria...i.e. you have to be a graduate..then UPSC exam is the only way to get into IES..

It is not at all necessary to appear in the GATE exams for appearing in the IES exams. To apply for an IES examination the candidate must have an engineering degree or equivalent from a recognized university with the age limit of 21 to 30 years. So you do not have to appear in the GATE to sit in your dream exam.

Hi,
Yes you are eligible for IES. There is no link between GATE and IES. IES is conducted by UPSC.

Both are the different examination.you can appear for GATE and IES either parallelly or seperately.

No connectivity between two examinations.

GATE is an All-India Examination conducted by the Seven IIT’s and IISC, Bangalore, on behalf of the MHRD Government of India. It has no relation with IES exam which is conducted by the UPSC. This Engineering Services Examination is based on the two levels Written Test and Personality Test. The Eligibility criterion for IES is an Engineering degree in from a recognized university or MSc degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special subjects also acceptable for certain Services/posts only.

yes why not?????
GATE is not related to IES.
GATE is for those who wants to do M.tech or higher studies..
A b.tech degree is the only educational requirement for IES.
so you are absolutely eligible for IES.

Hi friend,

For the IES GATE exam is not for this.

So you can do IES if you have engineering degree.

Best of luck

Eligibility for IES

IES(Indian Engineering Service) is entirely different from GATE and has no links with it..

IES exam is conducted every year by the UPSC and the interested candidates should fulfill the following criterion :-

1) You must be a B.Tech degree holder or in the final year of your B.Tech from any of the following streams
Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electronics and Communications Engineering
Electrical Engineering

2) You should be within the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

The maximum number of attempts permitted for the general category is 4,for OBC its 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

all the best..

With Warm Regards
"Nitz"
