The minimum qualification to become a lecturer or assistant professor in engineering are as follows:

Masters degree from a recognized university.
Must have qualified National Eligibility Test for Lectureship conducted by UGC.

To be eligible for the NET, you must have scored a minimum of 55% in your masters degree program.
You will be eligible to write NET in only that subject with which you have done your masters degree program.

Once you qualify the test, you may apply for universities/colleges any where in India.
Similar test is conducted on state level and qualifying the same will enable you to apply for universities and colleges located in that particular state.
