Re: Which Engineering stream is best suitable for to pursue IAS?
IAS : Indian Administrative Service
For appearing in this exam you have to complete Degree from any stream and you should also have 21 years of minimum age. Engineering is a good degree to pursue being an aspirant of IAS . There are lot of streams in Engineering before suggesting you the stream to be chosen in Engineering I want to tell some information to you. To become IAS officer you have to write Civil Service Exam. Civil Service Exam is a 3 levels exam Level 1 : CSAT(Civil Service Aptitude Test) : In this exam syllabus is common for all. Level 2 : Mains Exam (In this exam you have to select the two optional subject along with the compulsory subjects). Level 3 : Personal Interview(It will be almost like a HR Interview). Once again read about Level 2. I have said there that you have to select two optional subjects. Small information about Optional Subjects. In CSE(Civil Service Exam) you have an facility to select an optional subject so that the questions will be appeared in your selected optional subject. you might get a doubt where from this optionals come from answer for this the optional subject list is designed from all the disciplines of studies like ->Science ->Social ->Commerce ->Mathematics ->Medical Sciences. now have a look at Optional subject list. >>Agriculture >>Management >>Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science >>Mathematics >>Anthropology >>Mechanical Engineering >>Botany >>Medical Science >>Chemistry >>Philosophy >>Civil Engineering >>Physics >>Commerce & Accountancy >>Political Science & International Relations >>Economics >>Psychology >>Electrical Engineering >>Public Administration >>Geography >>Sociology >>Geology >>Statistics >>Indian History >>Zoology >>Law you have to select any two optional subject. Observe the optional subjects clearly you have some engineering optional's too. So I think you got my point. If not, Nothing select the stream like Mechanical or Civil or Electrical or All rounder Electronics and Communication Engineering. you will be benefited at the time of selecting optional's but remember one thing that no two engineering optional can be selected only one optional can be selected by a aspirant. For any further doubts you can contact me through this forum via posting a question in the same way as you did. Regards |

Re: Which Engineering stream is best suitable for to pursue IAS?
I suggest you to be a part of Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering in terms of Engineering Streams if you are a IAS aspirant. No other Engineering stream is as useful as these branches to become an IAS officer.

Dear,
The choose of engineering stream is totally dependent upon your choice. Because for I.A.S. you only need to complete your graduation/B.tech with passing mark. ELIGIBILITY:- Educational qualification:- -To apply for I.A.S. exam, you must be a graduate from a recognized university. -Final year students can also apply. -Candidates who have completed their technical courses/professional courses are also eligible for this exam. -Candidates must not have any pending backlogs. Age criteria:- -Age limit to appear in this exam is 21-30 years. -Age relaxation is available for SC/ST, OBC candidates. -For SC/ST- 5 years of relaxation is there. -For Other back ward class (O.B.C.)- 3 years of relaxation. -You must be an Indian citizen to apply in this exam. -You must be physically fit. |

Re: Which Engineering stream is best suitable for to pursue IAS?
Hi
For appearing in the IAS examination, you need to be a graduate in any stream from a recognized Indian university and your age should be in between 21-32 years. Moreover, there is no prescribed field in engineering or in any other graduation field which is helpful in clearing the IAS examination because you need to have a very deep and thorough knowledge of the subject hence it is advisable that you should opt for a subject which you like to study the most. Thanks |
