Educational Eligibility Criteria for IAS :

Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

You can choose any stream based on the subject from the above mentioned list of eligibility criteria.

Hello

The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative civil service of the executive branch of the Government of the Republic of India

You can go for any stream to become an IAS officer. There is no such restriction. But it would be better,if you go for CIVIL,ELECTRICAL or MECHANICAL because in IAS you need to select two optional subjects in main examination.
So,if you go for above mentioned three streams then one optional subject you can select of your stream only. So,it will reduce your efforts.

For any other doubts, you can contact www.upsc.gov.in

I am attaching a notification containing all the information regarding IAS exam this year and a list of subjects which you can opt.Just find the attachment below.

All the best.

Thumbs up Re: Stream for graduation to become an IAS officer?

No need for selecting a particular stream..

but it will be helpful if you take arts because you'll

temporirily get sometime to think of IAS examination..

as there will be no pressure like in engineering..

so select a cool group..

so that you concentrate right away on your goal..

the basic eligibility criteria for IAS exam is

-> you should have a degree from a recognized indian University.

-> your age should be minimum of 21 years.

regards
