I am student of 3rd B.Tech.I will attempt for group 1 civil service exam .
I need full details about how to apply ,what are the conditions and i need subjects and papers in it.I need books for preparing for exam.

You can apply for IAS after completing engineering degree. You must have completed 21 years to apply. Applications can be forwarded through the website of UPSC. For prelims exam, there will be questions on general aptitude, history, geography, etc. Mains exam is based on the optional subject selected by the candidate. Books for CSAT can also be used for study.

Civil Service Exam is conducted by UPSC in every year .

Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for Civil Service Exam .Final year student are applicable for Civil Service Exam .

Your age should be in between 21 years to 30 years for general candidates

OBC relaxation in upper age 3 years.
SC/ST relaxation in upper age 5 years.

The maximum no of attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Civil Service Exam is consist of 3 process - Preliminary Exam , Mains Exam ,Medical Test , Physical Test and Personal Interview .

So if you want to apply for civil service exam , then you can visit to www.upsc.gov.in .The Cost of Examination Application form Rs.100/- for General and OBC candidates and Free for SC/ST candidates .

Being a student of B.Tech. 3rd year, you are not eligible to apply for Civil Service Exam for which you have to complete B.Tech. Degree.

The Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year to become an IAS/IPS/IRS/IFS etc. officer.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree Exam or pass in any stream of education within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

The Civil Service Exam can be applied both through off line and on line mode.

Through off line mode the application form is available in all General Post Offices.

Through on line the application Form can be down loaded from official we site of UPSC i.e. http://www.upsconline.com

Since you are in 3rd Year of your BTECH, so you are not eligible to apply for the UPSC Prelims exams in the year 2013

You can only aply for the UPSC prelims exams when you are in your 4th Year of your BTech or when you have passed your Btech.

Below is the eligibilty:

Educational Qualifications: Graduation pass in any Stream

AGE- Minimum 21 years
Maximum 30 years
Candidates belonging to OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations

ATTEMPTS- General candidates- 4 times
OBC- 7 times
SC/ST- No such restriction

Dear Aspirant,

A candidate who is Graduate From Recognized Universities in any Discipline are eligible for applying Civil Service Examination...

Civil Service Examination is Conducted by UPSC every year for the Post of IAS/IPS/IES/IFS etc.....

A candidate age should be between 21 to 30 years....

OBC Candidate Permit age should 21 to 33 years,
For SC/St it should be 21 to 35 years.....

If you have completed Graduation Degree in any stream From Recognized Universities are apply for it....

Final years student who are waiting for their final result can also apply for it....

Age Limit:- General Age Limit is 21-30 years. but there is relaxation is available for reserved category....

For OBC category : up to 33 years

For SC/ST category : up to 35 years
