How to apply for civil services exam? I am a student of B.Tech 3rd year
I am student of 3rd B.Tech.I will attempt for group 1 civil service exam .
I need full details about how to apply ,what are the conditions and i need subjects and papers in it.I need books for preparing for exam. |

You can apply for IAS after completing engineering degree. You must have completed 21 years to apply. Applications can be forwarded through the website of UPSC. For prelims exam, there will be questions on general aptitude, history, geography, etc. Mains exam is based on the optional subject selected by the candidate. Books for CSAT can also be used for study.

Being a student of B.Tech. 3rd year, you are not eligible to apply for Civil Service Exam for which you have to complete B.Tech. Degree.
The Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year to become an IAS/IPS/IRS/IFS etc. officer. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree Exam or pass in any stream of education within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The Civil Service Exam can be applied both through off line and on line mode. Through off line mode the application form is available in all General Post Offices. Since you are in 3rd Year of your BTECH, so you are not eligible to apply for the UPSC Prelims exams in the year 2013
You can only aply for the UPSC prelims exams when you are in your 4th Year of your BTech or when you have passed your Btech. Below is the eligibilty: Educational Qualifications: Graduation pass in any Stream AGE- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years Candidates belonging to OBC gets 3 years and SC/ST gets 5 years age relaxations ATTEMPTS- General candidates- 4 times OBC- 7 times SC/ST- No such restriction |

Civil services examinations are conducted by UPSC every year for the posts of IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS. The eligibility criteria required for the civil services examination are prescribed as below:- * Completion of graduation in any discipline from any recognized college or university. * Final year contendors are also eligible for this examination. * Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC and 5 yrs for SC/ST contendors. * Age limit:- 21-30 yrs. * Nationality:- Indian.
