IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service and If your aim is to become IAS Officer in Future then for this you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination, this examination is Conducted by UPSC Every year and to apply for this examination you have to complete your Graduate degree course.

Civil services examination is Conducted by UPSC in 2 Stages : Preliminary examination and Main examination.

Those who cracked both these stages, are eligible for Personal Interview.

The Notification of Civil services examination will be Published in the Month of February Every year, Eligible candidates may fill the application form Online By Visit the official website.

The Notification will be Published on 04/Feb/2012 and the last date of apply for This examination 05/March/2012.

The Preliminary examination will be held on 20/May/2012.

So, The Online Registration Process will be started form 04/Feb/2012. So please wait for the Notification and then apply for this examination.

Eligiblity Criteria :

>> You have to complete your Graduate degree course in any discipline form a recognised University.

>> Your Age should between 21 to 30 years.

>> Final year Appearing candidates are also apply for this examination.

Indian Administration Service exam is held once in year, this exam is part of Civil service exam and exam is conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam:
Candidate should have complete graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university.
Age should be between 21 to 30 years for General category candidates,21to 33 year for OBC category candidates,21 to 35 years for SC/ST category candidates

Number of attempts:
4 attempts for General category candidates.
7 attempts for Obc category candidates
14 attempts for SC/ST category candidates.

Important dates for IAS-2012 exam:
Indian Administration Service(Preliminary exam) Notification for this year: Issue of application form from 4th Feb 2012 to 5th March 2012.
Exam will held on 20th May 2012.
Indian Administration Service (Main Exam) notification for this year:
Exam will held on 15th Oct 2012.

Note:Candidate who will crack the Preliminary exam,they only eligible for main exam.

I.A.S exam exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

Qualification:- Pass graduation with any stream fron recginiced university.

Age limit:-
For Open category:- 21-30 year
For OBC category:- 21-33 YEAR
For ST/SC category:- 21-37 year

Number of Attempts:-
For open category:- 4 attempts
For ST/SC category:- 7 attempts

Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various All India Services including I.A.S. , I.P.S., I.F.S.,I.R.S., and various Group A Services and Group B Services.

Normally applications are invited by UPSC notifications in leading News Papers during December every year.

The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages.

* Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually
conducted in May)
* Civil Services Main Examination (Written) (Conducted during
October/November)
* Interview and final Selection (During April/May)

How to Prepare ::

Here I have mentioned some points. Please read it very carefully :

* know all about the current events of national and international
importance.
* History of India and Indian national movement.
* Constitution of India.
* Make your English (spoken and written) very clear, clean and fluent.
* Must have to know about the - Indian Polity and governance -
constitution, political system, panchayatiraj, public policy, Rights issues,
etc.
* you have to know also : Economic and social development - sustainable
development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives
etc.
* General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate
change-that do not require subject specialization.
* General science.
* Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
* Decision making and problem solving
* General mental ability.

In the above I have mentioned all the required things which will help you a lot.
