I am a (BE) biotech student and have completed BE degree with first class..(60%).. what are the various ways in which i can apply for an MTECH(ME) in biotechnology ? Am i eligible for MSc also… if so, please intimate the procedure to apply to include under mentioned details :

1. Is entrance tests mandatory?? if so , which are they?
2. when are these tests held??
3. when are the applications forms available and where??
4. is there a way to get into post grad without GATE?

there are various procedure to take admission in M.Tech in biotechnology.

the first very good procedure is through GATE examination. be prepare for GATE examination. from for GATE is available now till 27th october. fill up the form. after the GATE examination may take admission in M.Tech in biotechnology with your GATE score in a reputed institution which accept GATE score. the will take application form from the student and after a institutional short written test or interview they take admission. if you go through GATE then you will get a scholarship for your study.

also there are so many institution where to take admission in m.tech in biotechnology GATE score is not required. they arrange a written test and fixed some eligibility criterion. if you can clear the both you may take admission there.

also some management and self sponsored seat is there in some institution where you can take admission by paying money.

i will suggest you to go through the GATE examination. it will be very much beneficial for you.

for doing M.tech in a good college,you need to appear GATE exam.....Since your subject is biotechnology...you can choose the corresponding option.

Yes GATE exam is mandatory to get into a good college..or else you can do M.tech through various state JEE

GATE exam is held on 2nd sunday of february every year.

3. when are the applications forms available and where??

The GATE application forms are relased in to the CANARA bank branches accross the country in the month of September..the last date of filling up the application form in 2010 is 27th oct,2010


4. is there a way to get into post grad without GATE?

Answer is same as that of question number 1

The basic requirement is a B.Tech degree in order to get admission to M.Tech in Biotechnology. The best colleges are IIT’s, NIT’s, JNU, Institute of Microbial Technology, Jadavpur University and Anna University. You have to pass the entrance exam conducted by the college or university for being eligible for admission process. Dates for application form and tests vary from institute to institute. To get into the top institutes in the country you need to appear for the GATE exam.

To get admission in M.Tech.one has to qualify GATE. this is an entrance exam for M.Tech.

My daughter is in final B Tech Bio tech. She has cleared the GATE with Score of 404, percentile 94.9 and all India rank 746. Can she get M.Tech Bio Tech in any IITs ? Does she need to apply separately for each IITs and other institutions for getting admissions. If so, can you please explain how to go about it ?
