Mtech in Genetic engineering after Btech in biotechnology engineering?
As i tell you that In 11th i has PCMB group & now in 12th I has PCM group.
Is this possible that joining biotech.engineering & then applying for genetic engineering in MTECH by writing GATE? Please inform me how to do this? & also inform me what is the difference in genetic & biotechnology engineering? & what is the eligibility for biotechnology engineering ? & also inform me about the colleges[ from pune side] who offer me biotech. & about BANASTHALI UNIVERSITY,BHU,DU,ANNA MALAI &OTHER RELATED MAHARASHTRA STATE EXAMS. |

Dear friend, For studying Engineering in Biotechnology in any college, In general there will be a written test conducted by the government of that state or the college which you want to study. First you have write that and get qualified then do your Engineering in Biotechnology ( as your interest is in that field) then during your 3rd year you can write GATE exam to do M.tech degree. There is no limit for writing GATE exam you can write any number of times. For your second question i.e., difference between genetic and biotechnology engineering : Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary branch it has its roots up to so many fields like microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Genetic Engineering, Plant and animal biotechnology, nano technology, bio informatics and many more. Where as Genetic Engineering is a specialized subject which deals with solely DNA and its related studies. Thats it. But while choosing any branch first of all know thoroughly about the step which you are going to take, investigate about it maximum as you can then choose it. Make sure you have interest in that field also. For your third question i.e., minimum eligibility to do b.tech biotech engineering is +2 or any other degree which is equivalent to the completion of second year of intermediate course ( of course with a good marks). After btech then you will go for M.tech. This is the general procedure. In pune this is the best known college for studying biotechnology Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute Sector No. 29. Arurdi, Pune - 4110044. Ph: 020 - 27641885 / 27653058 Website: www.dypbbi.org The institutes which you had mentioned are well known and reputed ones. SO go ahead and make your way to enter in to those institutes. I hope you got your answer. All the best for your future. |

see, today one can choose any field if he is not from that department of dominance too.
so,its possible for you also to get m.tech as genetic after biotech engg. Today, there are vivid specifications, starting from microbiology to dna atomics. Industry get the more qualified people. |

Re: Mtech in Genetic engineering after Btech in biotechnology engineering?
M.Tech after M.sc
Well, anyone who desired to persue M.Tech after there M.sc has one and only the best way that is GATE. GATE is conducted by IISC in colaboration with IIT every year. For providing admission into M.Tech IIT's, IISC, NIT's. Besides Reputed Institutes hundres of other institutes also provides admission through GATE, including other TOP institutes like- BITS, JU, BESU, DU, Anna, etc. Eligibility for M.sc candidates is such that they have completed there M.sc in there respecive subject with at lest 60% aggregate including all semesters. Candidate you are appeared are also eligible for it. Once go through GATE official link:- http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/gate2010_website/ all your doubts will be cleared. If someone has M.sc (MAthematics) then more or less he/she can opt for any related brach like- CS, IT, Electronics etc. Similarly if anyone have M.sc (Genetics) then he/she can opt for Biotech, Genetics etc. |

Re: Mtech in Genetic engineering after Btech in biotechnology engineering?
You have choosen the right path and go ahead in it. Yes definitely you can go for Mtech in Genetic Engineering after B.tech
The basic difference between genetics and biotechnology is that in genetics we only study about gene and there structure whereas in biotechnology we discover new varieties by gene ,manipulation. Both are based on genes. In genetics one has to discover the genes and thier role and in biotechnology its the manipulation. To get admission in any of central universities for Msc Biotechnology you should go for JNU exams conducted by JNU in May for M.tech Go For IIT JAm Through bJNU exam you cxan get admitted to any of the central universities a like BHU , JNU, Allahabad university. etc Through IIT JAm get admitted in any o the IITs There are many universities in which you can appear for their respective entrance exams best wishes!!!!!! Best of Luck!!!! |

See all the three are good. But it depends on you that which fields suits much to you..
They all of them are linked to each other and somewhat related. So you can go for either of them according to your choice!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Mtech in Genetic engineering after Btech in biotechnology engineering?
Hai!
Yes you can do B.Tech in Biotecnology and after that you can join Genetic engineering in M.Tech. For that first of all you have to attend AIEEE or IIT or BITSAT and to get a fair rank that earns you a seat in one of the IIT's or NIT's or BIT campuses. Mostly all the students look for other branches so it will be easier to get a seat in Bio-Technology. After B.Tech you have to give GATE for M.Tech admission and that will help you to get a seat in M.Tech Genitic engineering. Since you are a MPCB student it will be easier for you to gain a seat in Genitic engineering. Best of luck! |
