Dear Shahiba,

The acronym for NET is National Eligibility Test.

Yes, definitely you are eligible for NET examination after completion of your post-graduation in M.Sc Chemistry.

The National Eligibility Test (NET) is the national level entrance examination in India for postgraduate contenders who wish to qualify for admission in Ph.D research and/or university level teaching jobs in India.

UGC(University Grants Commission) conducts NET examination twice every year in the months of June and December.

NET examination is conducted for these two posts:-

* Junior Research Fellowship(JRF).

* Lectureship.

The eligibility criteria required for the NET examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of post-graduation in any discipline with 55% marks from any UGC recognized university.

* 5% marks relaxation is granted for SC/ST contenders.

* Final year contenders are also eligible.

* Age limit:- 20-28 yrs - JRF.

* For Lectureship, age limit is not required.

* Nationality:- Indian.
