Since you have registered for Common Proficiency Test Course in December 2009, you may apply for Common Proficiency Test to he held in December 2012 but in order to be considered eligible to take the Common Proficiency Test in the year 2013 and onwards, you will have to re-validate your registration. As per the regulation made by the Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the validity period of registration of Common Proficiency Test Course is three years. As far as maximum number of attempt is concerned, there is no such limitations. You may take the test as many times as you want provided you re-validate your registration after every three years.

For more information, refer to the official website of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
