Or graduates with B.sc in physics and electronics. once u r done wid bachelor's degree you can do masters along with flying lessons. TO be an Astronaut u r supposd to have flyin experience of some 3000 hours i gues. I am not sure about the flying hours but yes you shud have flying lessons and experience. Then u can apply dirctly to NASA or ISRO or KENNEDY SPACE CENTRE. i wish u luck. I am an upcoming Astronaut too. Hope we meet up some day in SPACE... ALL THE BEST |

i suggest you change your stream to EEE or ECE... then get a higher degree in a related area of research,.. maintain good aggregate and apply for the posts of a scientist in the premier Space organisations.. like.. ISRO, NAL, DRDO etc..it is very difficult to become an astronaut.. i suggest you keep another option so that you are not disheartened later..
to become an astronoaut, u need to be inclined towards research All the Best |

dear friend
If you want to become an astronaut then you have to required Bacholar degree. After completing your bacholar degree from Maths, physics and Astronomy then, you can apply for Astronaut. So, Science and Math are two subjects you might want to major in in high school to become an Astronaut. Physical Requirements - Astronauts have to be in a particular height range which is somewhere between 5ft. and 6ft. You have also have sharp eyesight that is either or can be corrected to 20/20. |

ISRO is an organization in India which select the telented students for the Astronaut program through an entrance exam.
Most of those selected have gained a significant amount of experience before joining the program, there are several fields in the astronaut such as: 1.Pilot Astronaut 2.Mission Specialist Astronaut 3.Payload Specialist Astronaut After completing the under graduation courses you have to sit for the exam conductedd by the ISRO.Then you will be selectedd . All the best. |

Re: How to become an Astronaut? What is the procedure?
Well dear, having MAterial & Metallurgical Engineering is not required for it. Chekout weather you have that qualities. You have to acquire anyone of the following degree from a good institute like IIT or IISC or IIST (most suitable). P.hd (Astro physics). P.hd (Geophysics). P.hd (Metaphysics) I mean to say any branch of physics which leads to space science, these are few examples. You can persue these degrees from IIT's or IISc,after acquiring these degrees from there you can appear for entrance conducted by NASA at international level for recruiting Astronauts,Scientists etc.You can also work with our country's ISRO various entrance are cionducted by ISRO for recruiting Scientists and engineers for carrying Space reasearch or various jobs. M.tech/P.hd (Aerospace engineering) M.tech.P.hd (Aeronautical engineering) I would also suggest all the askers to Read a Article "Astronaut Selection Process" HERE Six Indian Students were involved in LHC (Large Hadron Collidor) experiment at CERN,they from NIT,Durgapur and were M.tech student. HI!
I have got the following information from the NASA website about how to become a pilot astronaut. The basic requirements for becoming an astronaut are: Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognised university. Higher degree is always desirable. At least 1,000 hours pilot-in-command time in jet aircraft. You are also required to pass the NASA physical test. kindly visit the NASA website for more details: www.nasa.gov |

To become an astronomer usual educational requirement is a doctoral degree, since most of the work tends to be related to research and development.
Entrance exam :- For doing Ph.D, which is mandatory to do research, you should have to appear for the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) examination. Special skill need to become an Astronaut :- 1) curiosity, enthusiasm and greater concentration 2) Brain should be above average intelligence, high imagination, persistence, problem-solving and analytical skills and must possess both mathematical and computer skills. 3) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Syllabus for JEST :- see attached file jest_syllabus.txt. Colleges provide Ph.D program :- 1) Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad 2) Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad 3) Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore 4) Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences( ARIES), Nainital. |

Re: How to become an Astronaut? What is the procedure?
Now you study the 12th standard with subjects like Physics, Maths and Chemistry. The aspirants must score at least 65% of marks in HSC (10+2). After 10+2, aspirant can go for engineering or bachelor’s degree in Biological or physical science or mathematics. For getting admission into the graduation, you should clear certain tests. Some of them are IIT-JEE, AIEEE etc. NASA, ISRO, or other institutions hold various entrance tests. Only well knowledgeable students can clear these exams. The job is a challenging one. However, you can earn well in this field.
