10th or 12th passed candidates can try for admission to polytechnics. Admission in certain cases is done on merit basis. Entrance test are also conducted at state level or institute level for admission. Odisha CET and DTE, kerala entrance test are conducted for admission to polytechnics. UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam is conducted for admission to polytechnics across the state of UP.
