You can join Join Indian Army after 12th if you fulfill below conditions
Age Limits: Age should be between 16.5 to 19 years
Educational qualification:
Indian Army : 12th pass from any recognized board
Indian Air Force and Indian Navy : 12th pass from any recognized board with Mathematics and Physics, or equivalent

As you are going to appear 12th Board exam, you can apply for NDA to join Indian Army.

NDA - National Defence Academy, the entrance exam for which is conducted y UPSC twice every year as NDA-I and NDA-II to join Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

The eligible candidate wishing to join Indian Army of NDA, must be an unmarried Indian Male having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass in any stream from a recognised Board within the age of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical and Mental Health.

For 12th Board appearing candidate, the Indian Army can be joined through NDA(National Defence Academy) entrance exam conducted two times by UPSC as NDA-I and NDA-II.

How to join Indian Force

Although after 12th its advisable to go for the NDA to join the defence forces..but since you are a girl candidate hence you are not eligible to sit for the NDA Exam..

Other than the NDA..you can sit for the Combined Defence Services(CDS) Exam which is conducted by the UPSC in Feb and Sept..

The candidates may appear for the CDS Exam if they satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criterion :-

>> you must have completed your bachelor's degree in any stream..

>> the age requirements for various groups is as follows :-

> Naval Academy :- 19-22 years
> Air Force Academy :- 19-23 years
> Military Academy - 19-24 years
> Officer's Training Academy - 19-25 years

>> you must be physically fir in order to clear the medical examination..

So, first you will have to complete your graduation from a recognized institute to be able to provide your services to the country..

You will be facing these rounds before you finally get selected :-

> Written Test
> Interview Round
> Medical Examination

The written test of the CDS will test you on GK, Maths as well as English

Its nice to see you that you have an interest in joining the Indian Defense after 12th.

After 12th , the candidates who want to join Indian Defense go for the NDA Examination as this is the examination which is conducted twice every year in April and August and provides the opportunity to join any of the following wings :

a) Indian Army

b) Indian Air Force

c) Indian Navy

But unfortunately the NDA Examination is conducted only for Male Candidates and Girls are not allowed to appear for this exam.

But you need not to worry as there is an alternative available for you to join Defense which is the Combined Defense services Examination.

The CDS Examination is also conducted by the UPSC every year for candidates who want to join Indian Defense in the following wings :

a) Indian Air Force

b) Officer`s Training Academy

c) Indian Militant Academy

d) Naval Academy

But to be eligible to appear in the CDS Exam , you need Graduation from any recognized college/university as your minimum educational qualification and also check that whether your age is under the bracket of 18-24 years.

If You are wishing to join Indian Army then you should have to apply for a exam called NDA (National Defense Academy)....

NDA is conducted by UPSC Twice time in Year for the candidate who are aspiring to join Indian Defense System......

NDA exam is conducted in Three Wings:

1. Indian Army
2. Indian Navy
3. Indian Air Force

For that a candidate must have completed their 12th Science with the subjects of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics....

Age should be between 16.5 to 19 years....

Only Unmarried Male are eligible.....

A candidate must have Nationality of India.....

Entry to the defense sector is done through clearing the entrance examinations which serves as the gateway to it.

There are several entrance examinations which are as below:

1.National defense academy examinations :

>>10+2 passes/appearing from a recognized board is the minimum requirement.

But sorry to say that female candidates are not allowed to give this examinations as per rules and regulations of UPSC.

2.The options left with a female candidate is the combined defense services examinations.

In this examinations both male and female aspirants are allowed.Bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for this examinations.

The age limit is 19-25 years.

Since you have just passed your 10+2 ,so first you have to complete your graduation then only you can appear for the examinations.

One other option for you is University entry scheme but it is also based on graduation as minimum educational qualifications.

Till then you can start your preparation by joining the coaching institutes for the CDS exam preparation like:

1.Disha Academy

2.Minerva academy

3.Baal noi academy

4.Cavalier India.

Sorry, being a female, you cannot join Indian Army after class 12th.

but it is possible through CDS exam, after you complete your graduation.


After 12th, only male candidates can join India army through qualifying NDA exam and this is not applicable for girls.

However, girls can joing OTA.

OTA - Officer's Training Academy.

OTA is conducted through CDS – Combined Defense Academy.

Eligibility for OTA –

Graduation from a recognized university,

Minimum age should be 19 years.

Maximum age should be 25 years.

Girls can apply for OTA exam.

So, now, you first complete your graduation and then apply for CDS exam.

Dear Aspirant,

To get into the Army you need to write the entrance exams of NDA.

The requirements for joining the Indian army are:

Should be an Indian.

Should have the 60% marks in the Physics ,maths and chemistry.

Should have a considerable age.

IF the age is exceeded then he/she may be not allowed.

Shouldn't be married.

Shouldn't have any disabilities in health.

Should be fit physically and mentally.

Should have a good eyesight


If you have all this things with you then you have a chance of getting into the army.

If you are a 10+2 student and you wish to join Indian Army as officer then you can apply for NDA examination.

For NDA examination you must satisfy following conditions:

-10+2 pass from a recognised Board of education and in case you wish to join Navy or Air Force then must have physics and maths in 10+2.

-Age required is 16.5 to 19 years.

-Only unmarried males are eligible to apply and you must be an Indian Citizen.

Selection will be purely based on merit . Merit will be prepared on the basis of marks in the Written Examination and SSB Interview.

Those who are in merit will undergo Medical Examination. After being declared medically fit they will join NDA.

You also have options in the non officers category post in Indian Army if you wish to join the same. Posts like Clerk, Soldier etc are also available for 10+2 passed.

You can also apply for TES ( Technical Entry Scheme) if you have above 70 % marks in PCM subjects.

Selection of candidates to Indian Army is done on the basis of NDA exam. You can attend NDA this year itself. The exam comprises of questions on general aptitude and mathematics. Other than written exams, you need to qualify certain medical standards also. As you are from Science background, you can apply for all the three wings of defense.

There are so many ways to enter into the Indian Army .It totally depends upon your qualification and age limit that decides for which entrance examination you are eligible through which you can enter into it.

1.National defense services examinations:

>>This exam is conducted twice every year by the UPSC.

>>10+2 passed /appearing from a recognized board is the minimum requirement for the exam.

>>The age limit is :16.5 to 19 years with no age relaxations applicable to anyone.

Yes. You can join Indian Army after completion of your 12th class.

Here is the complete information regarding this.

First you have to crack the NDA Exam (National Defence Academy). This exam is being conducted 2 times in a year.

UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) is the organizing body for this exam.

Once you get through this exam, the other rounds in selection procedure will be
Interview
Medical Test

If you get through these 2 rounds also, you will absorbed into Indian Army.

So, what you have to do is, start preparation for NDA Exam.

If you take the exam soon after the completion of 12th class without having any preparation, then there is no use.

Because, you can not attempt the exam well without having any preparation and moreover the competition is high for this exam especially to join Indian Army.

The reason for high competition to join Army wing is, candidates from any stream in 12th class are eligible to apply for this wing.

But in order to apply for Navy and Air Force wings, candidates should have Mathematics and Physics in their 12th class.

Remember one thing that you can take this exam upto the age of 19 years only.

So, don't waste too much of time in preparing for this exam.

You should not be an unmarried male candidate in order to apply for this exam. Girls are not eligible to take this exam.

you can appear for NDA(national defence academy) examination if you are interested in Indian air force..
it is applicable for unmarried Indian male candidates whose age is in between 16.5 and 19 years...
this exam is not applicable for girls..
so, you cannot apply for it... but, you can apply for CDS exam
Combined defence exam.. which is also conducted by UPSC..

for this, you can apply for air force academy...
* the eligibility for it is 10+2 with physics and mathematics or engineering degree..
* the age limit should be in between 19 and 23.

you can also apply for the following if you are:

* Indian military academy
eligibility:
degree from recognized university or equivalent.
age limit: 19 to 24

* Naval academy
eligibility:
Bsc in physics and mathematics or bachelor degree in engineering.
age limit: 19 to 24 years.

* Officer's training academy

See vacancies for LDC departments in Indian army.See its website and search for recruitment.
Otherwise for UDC give NDA and make your skills perfect and recognizable for SSB.Also read Arihant Practice book.
