Sorry for Late Reply But SCRA Examination for this year was already completed on 29/Jan/2012.

SCRA stands for Special Class Railway Apprentices and this examination is Conducted by UPSC, Every year and to apply for this examination you have to complete your Intermediate examination OR Graduate degree course with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

~~ Your age should between 17 to 21 Years

~~ Upper age relaxation is applicable for Reserved Category Candidates.

~~ From this year you have to fill the SCRA Application form Online Only.

~~ No offline application form Facility from this year

If you have filled the SCRA Application form Online, then you have to download your E-ADMIT Card Online by Visit the official website of UPSC.

Because UPSC Not send Hall ticket by Post, you have to download the E-Admit card Online from the official website.

But if you have missed the chance this time and do not know the process to download the admit card, then please do not worry just apply for this examination next year.

And please read the Notification carefully before applying for any examinations in Future because all the Information is availiable in the Notification.

The SCRA examination is already over winch was held on 29.01.2012.


SCRA - SPECIAL CLASS RAILWAY APPRENTICE is an entrance exam conducted by UPSC once every year for recruitment of SCRA in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.

The eligible candidate should complete 12th standard or graduation degree with good marks with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics within the age of 17 to 21 years from a recognised University is eligible to apply for SCRA.

The SCRA can be applied through on line only from this year and the admit card can be down loaded from the official website of UPSC.

The successful candidate shall have to undergo a technical training course before appointment as SCRA.

The full form of S.C.R.A. is Special Class Railway Apprentice.It was started in 1927 by the British, to select a handful of most intelligent Indians to assist them in their Railway Operations, after training at their Railway's largest workshop.Now Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) board.It choose the best talanted Indians and has provided Indian Railways with its top-ranking officers in all walks.

Eligible Criteria :-

1. Age Criteria ::

Candidates must have attained lower age limit of 17 years of age & must have completed upper age limit of 21 on 1st august of year of examination.

2. Educational Qualification ::

i.) To take admission in this examination, candidates must have passed Intermediate or an equivalent examination in first or in second division.

ii.) University or board is of govenment approved.

iii.) Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

iv.) Mathematics graduate or students with at least one of the subjects Physics or Chemistry as their degree level may apply also.
