You can join banking sector after B.Tech in mechanical engineering. You can join as Specialist Officer/P.O in banks. You need to get through the selection process conducted by banks to get in to position. Applications can be forwarded through the website of banks or IBPS. Being an engineer, you can work in the software/technical section of banks.

The entry level positions in various Banks are
Clerical Positions
Probationary Officers

The selection procedure for both the positions would involve
Written Exam
Interview

The written exam consists of questions from the following categories
Reasoning
Numerical Ability
General Awareness
General English
Computer Knowledge

The eligibility criteria for the above mentioned positions will be

Completion of Graduation with any of the stream to apply for Clerical positions.

Completion of Graduation with any of the stream with a minimum of 60% of marks to apply for PO positions.

If you have scored 60% of marks in your Mechanical Engineering, then I suggest you to apply for IBPS PO Exam.

IBPS is conducting common written exam every year for the recruitment of PO positions on behalf of all the public sector banks.
