i want to join indian army after bsc.(bio,che.) .i got 72% in 12th u.p. board .my sub. was bio. in 12th. i got 'b' grade in n.c.c. It is very good to see that you are interested in joining Indian Army and serve the nation. It is possible to join the Indian Army after graduation. You will have to appear in the CDS exam in order to join the Indian Army.

CDS stands for the Combined Defence Services Examination. The exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission twice a year to recruit candidates in the Indian Armed Forces. The notification of the CDS exam is released generally in June and October while the exam itself is conducted in September and February.


Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

1. Candidate must be citizen of India.

2. A subject of Bhutan

3. A subject of Nepal or Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1962.

The candidates of Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet can only appear in the CDS exam if they have a certificate in their favour from the central government of India.


Age Limits

Indian Military Academy 19-24 years

Air Force Academy 19-23 years

Naval Academy 19-22 years

Officers’ Training Academy 19-25 years (not before 2 June)

Please remember that only unmarried candidates are allowed to appear in the CDS Exam.


Educational Requirement:

1. To join Indian Army, you need to complete graduation in any stream from a recognised university.

2. To join Indian Navy, you would require B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.

3. The requirement for Indian Air Force is, graduation degree with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 or B.Tech degree.

English 100 marks

General Knowledge 100 Marks

Elementary Mathematics 100 Marks


Candidates who will pass the written test would be called for interview by the Services Selection Board (SSB). The interview process could last more than 5 days before candidates are finally selected for the academies.

After B.Sc. you can join Indian Army through appearing CDS(Combined Defence Service) exam conducted by UPSC two times a year as CDS-I and CDS-II for entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy of CDS.

To be eligible for Indian Army of CDS one must be an unmarried Indian male candidate having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 24 years with good Physical Mental Fitness.

The selection is through written exam, personal interview, Physical Fitness Test and finally through Medical Test.

Apply for the Combined Defense Services Exam (CDSE).
The notification for the exams appear in August and March and the exam is conducted in February and March in all national newspapers.




Eligibility
-You should be unmarried.
- Age between 19 and 24 years to join the Indian Military Academy
- Age between 19 and 25 years to join the Officers' Training Academy.

I have completed BSC(Comp Sc) with 43%.
And now i am doing MBA. Can i able to give CDS for Army/AirForce?

To join the Indian Army you need to apply for the NDA exam after completing 12th standard.

NDA means National Defence Service. This exam conducted by union Public Service Commission twice in a year.

NDA has following Three recruitment Courses

Indian Army
Navy
Indian Air force

Eligibility:

Candidate should indian Citizenship.

Candidate should complete intermediate.

No percentage required to this exam.

Age limit should be between 16.5 to 19 years.

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.

Girls are not eligible.

You can join Indian Army after B.Sc graduation through CDS exam which is Combined Defence services examination conducted by UPSC.

For Army wing of CDS you should be Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university .

For OTA ( Officers training Academy ) in Chennai your age should be between 19 to 25 years.

For IMA ( Indian Military Academy) in Dehradun your age should be 19 to 24 years.

You have to face an Objective type paper and SSB interview and then a medical examination if you want to become a officer in Indian Army.

Objective type paper will have questions from Maths, English , General intelligence,
General knowledge , current affairs and Science. You have to score very good marks in this paper to get a call for SSB interview.

In SSB interview you will face some group tests , psychological tests and interview.

The vacancy will be filled in the order of the merit and only medically fit candidates will join for training.
