Re: How to join IPS exam if I am a B.Com 2nd year from Mahatma Gandhi University
It is possible for you to appear in the Indian Police Service Examination. The exam to recruit IPS officers in India is called Civil Service Examination and it is conducted by the Union Public Staff Commission.
As per the rules of government of India, any Indian citizen which include NRI person can appear for the Union Public Staff Commission conducted exams. What this means is that you can appear for the IAS, IFS or IPS whichever one of these three you may prefer. In fact there are coaching centers in India, mainly in big cities that focus on the NRI candidates. Since you are pursuing B.Com that too from India, I don't think you would face any issue applying for the Civil Service Examination for IPS officer. However you would have to complete the B.Com course before you can do that. Civil Service Exam is quite a tough exam because a lot of people now see it as prestige to work for the government as bureaucrats. This has resulted in over 4 Lakh candidates applying for the Civil Service Exam every year. If you are living in India then I would recommend that you take admission in a coaching center which could prepare you for the IPS exam. That would be my recommendation. If you are still in Dubai then you will have to reside in India at least 6 months before the Civil Service Examination and prepare for it with the help of professional coaching. Eligibility 1. Candidate should be Indian citizen (including NRI). Age Criteria 2. The minimum age to appear for Civil Service Examination is 21 years as on August 1. 3. The maximum age limit is 30 years. 4. The upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC. 5. The upper age limit for SC/ST is 35 years. Education: 6. You need to have graduation degree in any stream from a recognised university. Number of Attempts General - 4 attempts OBC - 7 attempts SC/ST - no restrictions Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm for General and 160 cm for ST Female - 150 cm for General and 145 cm for ST Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Eye sight 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. No Color blindess and night blindness Exam Pattern: Thee are two stages of Civil Service Examination - Preliminary Exam and Final Exam. |
