What is the procedure to become an IPS officer?
I am jayanta dutta, bcom(h) 2nd year at calcutta university age 20 years want to know that what is the proccedure to make a ips officer?

Yes offcourse you can go for IPS exam.
You need to write CSAT exam conducted by upsc. Minimum education criteria = Graduate also Candidates appearing for Degree qualification are also eligible for appearing in the examination, however, they are supposed to submit proof of passing the requisite qualification along with with Detailed Application Form for Civil Services (Main) Examination. This time UPSC pattern is changed and it is called as CSAT which is coming into effect from Civil Services Examination, 2011.and so there is no option subjects... It consits of two paper and each paper of Two hrs.. (Paper 1) (200 marks) consists of
It is of purely objective type and qualifying exam... (Paper II) (200 marks)
It is of purely subjective type and followed by interview.... Based on the overall ranking and your choice of cadre, you will be provided IFS (Indian Foreign Service), IAS or IPS. The higher your rank, the choice is with you. |

IPS stands for Indian Police Service is a Civil Services Examination and is condoucted by UPSC every year.
Eligibility to appear in IPS exam:- Education Qualification: Minimum Graduatation from any recognize university. Age: minimum 21 years to maximum 33 years. Physically Fitness: Minimum 157cm hight and have no crack and disbalance in your body. It is held by three steps Priliminary Main and Personal Interview. In Priliminary there are two paper and each paper consits Two hrs. (Paper 1) (200 marks): Current events. History Geography Indian Polity and governance Economic and social development and General science. (Paper II) (200 marks): Comprehension Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy(Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) Best of luck! |

Eligibility Criteria to become an IPS officer:-
Educational Qualifications : Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates having professional and technical qualifications recognized by the government are also eligible. For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India For other services, a candidate must be either : (a) a citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanently settling in India. or Age Limits : (a) Candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August of the year in which examination is being held. (b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable: (i) upto a maximum of five years for a SC/ST candidate. (ii) upto a maximum of three years for OBC (iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during a particular period Physical Standards : Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination. 1:Height- Minimum height for the Male 165 cm & for ST 160 cm,for the SC/ OBC,is not Minimum height for the Female 150 cm & for ST 145 cm,for the SC/ OBC,is not 2:Chest- for male minimum 84 cm. expansion 5 cm. for female minimum 79 cm. expansion 5 cm. 3:Eye Sight- 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision. Eligibility for IPS exam:- 1.Candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade. 2.Candidates age should be in between 21-30 years. For SC/ST the upper age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the upper age relaxation is 3 years.. So, after completion of graduation you can apply for IPS exam.. All the best. |

Here iam providing the total information about the IPS examination. IPS-Indian Public Service, to become an IPS officer you need to apply for the Indian Civil Services Examination which is conducted by the UPSC once in a year. Dear aspirant,
First of all you need to be a graduate. Then only you can appear for this exam. You need to have a preparation of at least 1 year in order to appear for this exam. Work hard and finish the syllabus in time. Take care of all the general studies portion because it is the hurdle in the p[reparation for this exam. They never check your percentage for appearing for this exam. But good academic career will have a good impact on them during interview. The selection of best books will play a great role in deciding your rank. If you have a good collection of books then your preparation will be better. At the same time your hard work to finish the syllabus of optional subjects will play a great role in deciding your rank in the mains. In order to have expert level knowledge of General studies the recommended books are: General Studies Manual -McGraw Hill Publication Arihant Publication Upkar Publication UPSC Portal books Pratiyogita Darpan study material , Civil Services Chronicle, Competition wizard for articles on important issues.
