Re: How to make my career as translator? I am a B.Com graduate
The first step to make your career as a translator is to identify which language interest you more. There is a huge opportunity to build up a career as translator and at the same time it is challenging as well.
Some of languages that you might take up since it has huge demand are German, French and Japanese. You need to take up a diploma course or a part time course in any of the international languages which interest you the most. There are several institutions as well which provide courses for the language of your interest. There is also Delhi University and Jahawarlal Nehru University which offers both graduate and post graduate courses in various foreign languages. Once you have a good grip of the language and a certificate or a degree you can start you translating text and other documents. It will be good if you start with easy and dull text translation rather than literacy works. You can get a target to work for import export agencies for assignments or work as a freelancer. As a freelancer you can sign assignments with multiple agencies for a certain amount of work per month. If the Freelancer work doesnot interest you can also apply for Government and non-government jobs or work as a translator in MNCs. You can also start a career as a teacher of foreign language in institutions or colleges. |

Re: How to make my career as translator? I am a B.Com graduate
If you want to make a career as a translator, there are several steps you can take, even with a B.Com degree. Here are some suggestions:
Develop your language skills: To be a translator, you need to have a strong command of at least two languages. If you are already fluent in one language, work on developing your skills in another language. You can take language courses or practice by reading books, watching movies, and speaking with native speakers. Gain translation experience: Start by translating small texts or documents for friends and family. You can also volunteer to translate for local organizations or companies. This will help you build a portfolio of translation work, which you can showcase to potential clients or employers. Consider getting certified: Although certification is not always required, it can help you stand out from other translators. Organizations like the American Translators Association (ATA) and the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) offer certification programs for translators. Network with other translators: Join professional organizations for translators, attend conferences or events, and connect with other translators online. This can help you learn about job opportunities, get advice on translation issues, and build a network of colleagues in the field. |
