More than 4 attempts are not allowed. If you have applied for the test but not written the test then the same is not counted as an attempt. However if you have appeared for even one paper then it will be treated as an attempt. You cannot appear for these exams after you cross the age limit of 30 years even if you have not attempted for these exams 4 times. This being a highly competitive exam thorough preparation is a must.

Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC once every year for appointment in the top administrative post under Central Govt.
The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. Permissible attempts to CIVIL SERVICE EXAM:- One General candidate can write Civil Service exam for Four times within the maximum age limit In case of OBC candidate it is permissible to Seven attempts And in case of SC/ST there is no such restriction that means a candidate from this category can write Civil Service Exam as m,any as times he or she can within the maximum age limit. Prelims MAINS Interview Minimum eligibilty to apply for the UPSC Civil Services exams is: Education: Graduation pass in any stream from a recognized university No minimum percentage of marks is required in Graduation Age- Minimum 21 years Maximum 30 years OBC can apply till 33 years SC/ST can apply till 35 years Attempts/Chances: UPSC has also fixed number of attempts General- 4 times OBC-7 times SC/ST-No Restrictions |

Civil Services Examination is conducted yearly in India. The examination is conducted for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Forest Service (IFS) and many more.
There are lakhs of students who appear for the Civil Services Examination every year. However very few of them actually manages to get the seats. There are few seats and large number of applicants. You can see how competitive, Civil Services Examination has become and to clear them is not a piece of cake. Civil Services Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. If you are interested in appearing then must have at least completed graduation. With the minimum qualification of graduation, you are not eligible to appear for it. Eligibility 1. For IAS/IPS the candidate has to be Indian citizen. 2. Bachelor's degree should have been completed. 3. UPSC has no criteria for marks. 4. You must be 21 years old to apply for the exam. 5. Candidates above 30 years (general) are not eligible. Relaxation 1. There is 3 years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC. 2. The upper age limit is 35 years for SC/ST. Number of Attempts 1. You can write civil exams at most four times.But there is no limit for SC/ST students.The students who have the bachelor degree can attempt the exam.
There are two stages of this exam 1.Prelims(Objective type) 2.Mains(Descriptive type) :The students who qualified in the prelims are eligible to write the exam. |

civil exams are conducted by upsc exam you can attempt this exam under age of 30 .you can attempt this exam if you are in open catgeory .nt and other caste student can give 7 attempts . For st and sc caste there is no limit .but to pass this exam you have to do your preparation best . All the best for your study

Civil Service Examination Attempts details: Numbers of attempts The number of attempts a candidate can give the exam is limited as follows: 1.Four attempts for General category candidates and OBC category candidates under the Creamy layer 2.Seven attempts for OBC category candidates 3.To SCs/STs, there is no limit on the number of attempts. However these candidates are requested to bear in mind: An attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be deemed to be an attempt at the Examination. 1.If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he/she shall be deemed to have made an attempt at the Examination. 2.Not with standing the disqualification/cancellation of candidature, the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt. 3.Candidates just applied but not appeared at the exam is not an attempt. regards...santhosh............ |
