it depends upon the university and most probably more than 7.5 cgpa with no arrears history will be treated as distinction.

if you have scored more than 7.5 consistently without arrears history means you will be treated as distinction.

you must have the CGPA above 8.5 for each semester from first semester to eight semester.

to get didtinction we want to score no history of arreas or calculation will be statred from 2nd year or first year

8.5 is distinction means, 8.4 is a first class and 6.7is also a first class, Enna koduma sir ithu? rise up guys for this

i am studying in B.E., 2nd year civil engg in anna univ. i have failed in one subject in my first semester, but i cleared it in the second semester itself. my doubt is that whether i am eligible for first class with distinction because some one told me that arrears in first year will not be taken in consideration for getting first class with distinction. please give your kind commands

And also why they are calculating general papers from 1 st sem... bcs I got good gpa from 3rd sem(department papers).. if they calculate from 3rd sem... I will definitely get distinction with 8.78 cgpa (good rank also).\

For distinction the overall CGPA ,that's from first semester to eight semester total must be above 8.5 not individual CGPA .And if you had arrears in first year is okay but it must be cleared within the pass out year. And the third semester to eight semester percentage must be without any arrears. :)
