Re: How to prepare for CAT Exam from the joining of B.Tech? Which books should I prefer?
To begin with you need to understand the structure and pattern of the exam. Basically there will be questions from quantitative and verbal ability, reasoning and general awareness. There will be only objective questions. You must attempt only answers which you are sure about so as to avoid negative marks. You must solve sufficient number of problems of each type. You can refer to books by R.S Agarwal for the quantitative ability and reasoning section. For verbal section Wren and Martin book will be useful. You need to read various journals, magazines like times today, manorama year book for the general awareness section.

Pragya,
CAT is one of the toughest exams. And you need work experience to apply to most institutes. So, its a long term commitment. Plan accordingly. Also, its too soon to start now. Start in 3rd year. Still, the syllabus is as much English you can possibly know and basic maths. Revise your 10th and 12th maths, same books as for CBSE like NCERT and Comprehensive Maths. Also, a formal training like TIME, IMS and so on helps a lot. Cheers, |
