One of the famous author is R.S.Aggrawal choose books for different criteria .

Basically first understand the areas that you will be tested upon. So for that make a detailed list of topics in the same. Refer to books like Wren and Martin for English section and also manorama year book. Follow a timetable if possible. The past papers of various banks will also be useful.

The best way to prepare for English, descriptive questions is to refer the previous year question papers, and try to find out the type of questions asked and prepare for it accordingly...

For GK follows these tips :-

1. Read newspaper daily and note down all the news that are important for the exam and revise them every week.
2. Read more and more magazine and journals written over latest issues.
3. Watch more and more news channel to get good knowledge over current GK
4. Read Year book or books by Pratiyogita Darpan and also you can surf on internet for latest news and articles.
5. take online GK test and see how many you can answer.

For English :-
Clear your basics first then after go for Wren and Martin grammar book and after that buy some books like Kiran Publication and read those books and solve maximum unsolved papers.

Read as many articles as possible in English, Solve at least 5 passage a day.
Read in front of a mirror and watch English movies with subtitles as well as English news channels.
