Recently the SBI clerical examination was over in the month of January,2011. Myself I have also attempted the examination.

Anyway here i am providing some guidelines.

In the general knowledge section, the main focus will be on the following areas
-National affairs
-International affairs
-Bilateral affairs
-Awards
-Sports
-Persons in news.

For to be effective in the above aspects,
-you should have to watch news channels and business news channels like CNBC
-Going through news papers regularly and collect the notes regarding above aspects from the news papers
-Practice some general knowledge quiz questions on online. www.wiziq.com
here you can do that
-You can also prepare the list of current affairs from different sources like books and online websites
-As far as books, YES bank publications is a good one
-you can also try Upkars general knowledge by Khanna and Verma
-www.sakshieducation.com it is providing updated current affairs from time to time.
-in this site you can also try some practice tests.
-What ever the new things you learn, discuss it with your friends, like group discussion
-Due to this you may gather the points which are not known to you.

to be prepare for general knowledge you must be aware about the current affairs as well as the knowledge about previous. you must know news from sports to film everything. for this you should regularly go through the newspaper, watch television news and point down the question which may come in general knowledge.


beside this study some book for general knowledge. you may study the latest monoroma year book. this is a good book to improve general knowledge.


also there are so many books for bank clerk examination .you may also study that type of book. you may also join in coaching institution. they will provide you general knowledge study material as well as other study material. these are very much helpful.

To prepare for general awareness section of SBI PO written exam you should read some good newspaper daily like Times of India or The Hindu. It will improve your knowledge on current affairs.
