also practice as many old papers as possible

For the preparation of afmc it is good that u study the 10th and 12th ncert books.. bcoz in afmc entrance all questions asked are from ncert syllabus.

AFMC exam pattern

Subject Total Questions
Biology (Zoology and Botany) 50
Chemistry 50
Physics 50
Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning 25
English Language and Comprehension 25

It is obvious that one has to prepare well for all the subjects as the no. of selection is very less. The last two subjects are very much important as they are very much scoring rather than physics chem or bio. So one should have a good command on GK and deneral awareness, aptitiude test, logical reasoning.
The reasoning and aptitude part can be done by daily practising their model test papers.
The general awareness and Gk can be done by reading at least one national newspaper and some magazines like CSR, Pratiyogita Darpan, JSR etc and watching news channels for at least half an hr a every night.
For the main subjects PHY CHE and BIO one must have good command on NCERT books first then practice from Mock test papers is good option. As it is a med examination so bio questions come from more basic and conceptual approach. So, biology should be studied in deep. Apart from all these believe in yourself. That's the most imporatant part.

If any of your friends have joined institutes, then see if you can borrow some test material from them and practice answering questions. You have to be very good at answering objective questions. So practice from various books that are available or from borrowed institute books.

Time management is another thing. You have to be really fast in deciding answers. So when you practice, you can also time it side by side.

Since there is negative marking in the exams, you have to be careful. While practicing, if you dont know the answer for any question, then mark it, then learn the answer and try to remember it.

The main theme of any major entrance exams use to be the basic concepts. The ncert books are the best option to review all the concepts as it contains whole the syllabus as well as students use to be familiar with this. So, ncert is preferred for all the entrance exams to review them well. But, if one is going through ncert books well then one must practice well with the mock test paper and last year question paper for the same so that the fundamental are brushed up and also it gives lot of confidence.
Therefore I would suggest you to refer ncert books for theory brush up and then practice last year question paper from Arihant or Mtg's question bank.

syllabus for afmc

HOW MANY CANDIDATES WOULD APPLY FOR AFMC MBBS 2010

Dear friend
As such there is no separate syllabus for AFMC.
The general standard of the entrance examination will be that of 11th and 12th class under the 10 + 2 Scheme /pre medical /intermediate science or an equivalent examination of the State Education Board/Indian University.

So prepare according to your +2 syllabus. All the topics covered in boards are covered in the exam syllabus.

AFMC-MBBS entrance is a single-stage test followed by an interview.

The competitive written examination will be of 2 hours duration and will have one paper comprising of 200 objective type questions in the following subjects.

Chemistry 50

Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning 25
English Language and Comprehension 25

Each question would be of one mark and for each correct answer one mark will be credited. Wrong answers will have negative marks. For each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Use of calculator, cellphone. PDA and log tables arc not permitted in the examination.

Successful candidates in the written test are called for the interview conducted by AFMC itself.

For JIPMER UG admissions you must be strong in the MPCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) along with maths to some extent and also must follow the CBSE standard of education in the schooling level and the hard preparation in the mode of MCQ is a must and for the AFMC the above said standards Plus the physical standard of height, weight and no disabilities as in their website. You will have to work hard for these exams since they are considered tough. But you can make it easier by your hardwork.

You can use your normal books like NCERT or Arihant which are evergreen books for all kind of entrances. Try to master these books first and later you can go for other hardcore books

There are no sample papers available online for AFMC and JIPMER but Arihant provides certain books like AFMC past year solved papers. Try searching for these books in the book store

please tell me how much minimum marks required for selection?

be very clear in each bit u study and follow only the NCERT books.
jot down the points which you find hard and revise them much more so that you find easy during the xams.
there are quite few books to practise.
My personal opinion is that RAMAN'S pioneers in PMT'S is quite intresting to solve including all the question papers frm 1994-2010.

Jipmer is a premiere institute of India and as such its questions are above average.I would suggest you to thorough your NCERT books beside practicing questions from a good OBJECTIVE BOOK like that of GRB.Also keep on practing previous year paper which may help you in understanding the pattern and time management.

You have a fair chance of making into AFMC if you thorough your NCERT books,beside giving importance to ENLISH LANGUAGE and LOGIC AND REASONING.

Definitely my friend you should not only refer but thorough your 11th syllabus.
The questions are proportionally divided among the 11th and 12th syllabuses.
Selection would be impossible if you leave 11th syllabus.
