Selection for IPS is done through CSAT and mains exam. Preparation on topics like General Aptitude, Indian Constitution, Indian Polity and world/India geography is required to clear CSAT. You have to prepare on optional subject selected for clearing mains exam. Exam preparation can be made with the help of reference books and model question papers. Also practice well to clear physical efficiency test.

Preparation For IPS

In order to prepare for the Indian Police Service one must be physically as well as mentally fit..

You will have to clear the Civil Services Exam conducted by the UPSC

The eligibility criteria to appear for the exam are :

1) Your age should not be less than 21 years..

2) For general candidates, the upper age limit is 30 years..for OBC its 33 years and for SC/ST its 35 years..

3) The minimum educational qualification required is that of being a graduate in any discipline from a recognized institution..

4) No percentage restriction is there for appearing for this exam..

To prepare for Civil Services Exam you can refer to the following books :

The books that I have recommended are for the first stage of the Civil Services Exam which is the CSAT popularly known as the Prelims..

There are 2 papers in CSAT which are General Studies and Aptitude..

After clearing Prelims you are eligible to appear for the Mains where you will be facing 9 subjective papers..

After the Mains..there will be a medical examination for which I have attached the details..

Finally you will be called for the Personal Interview..

For details visit http://upsc.gov.in

all the best..

With Warm Regards
Nitz
