i am a 1st year BA. student. i want to appear in IPS exam. can u plz give me complete details regarding it, like date of application..... tentative month of exam........ how to prepare for this exam
and reference books....... and give full advice.

IPS is an central service and also deeply regarded as the most prestigious job..

Like this service there are other 24 services for which a common entrance test is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)

The main basic eligibility criteria for Civils Service Examination

->Candidate must have 21 years of age

->Candidate must complete at least degree from a recognized Indian University

this is all about the basic eligibility criteria of CSE

As per your qualification if you have completed Degree then definitely you are eligible for the exam..

You can go through the examination code for Civil Service Examination in the official website of UPSC

i.e.

www.upsc.gov.in

All the dates of the examination will be like this

I will explain in the monthly format

Date of notification will be in jan/feb

last date of application form reception will be mid march or april

preliminary examination will be in may/june

mains examination will be in sept/nov

Interview will be in Feb

Results will be announced in March or so

these are all the important months of the examination

Preparation for IPS can be done in different way according to the tastes and preference of the individual

each and every individual will have different methods and techniques to achieve their respective goals..

for IPS you have to appear in civil service examination. he eligibility criterion to appear in civil service examination is candidate should have minimum of graduation degree in any discipline from any recognized university. the age must be in between 21 to 30 for general category to appear in civil service examination.


generally the notification come in the month of March. this year notification was published on 21st March, 2011. after that form fill up is started. this year the civil service preliminary examination will be conducted on 12th June, 2011.

civil service examination s conducted in two stage. one is civil service preliminary examination and other is civil service main examination. if you can clear the civil service preliminary examination then you will be eligible for civil service main examination.

there are so many good books in market for civil service examination. buy some books from them. before that at the time of form fill up you have to choose subject in which subject you want to appear in civil service examination. choose subject which is related to your branch of study and you have good interest on that subject. you may take admission in coaching institution. there are so many good coaching institution in which they provide subject coaching for civil service examination. you may take admission in any one of these coaching institution to make preparation more strong.

Date for this year is over now.You have to apply for next year, so you have good amount of time to prepare for....

For preparation , you have to prepare for two optionals and general studies, latter is most crucial.

If you think , you can prepare by self, then you can enroll for postal coaching as you cannt prepare solely on yourself, some reference material is necessary or else you can join full time coaching.

Ans-yes you can apply because you have already an bachelor degree.

IPS exam is conducted by the upsc once in a year.
Eligibility criteria:
You should be a citizen of india.
The candidate should be complete graduation from any recognized university.
The candidate age limit should be 21 to 30 years, the age relaxation for obc candidates is 3years, and the sc/st candidates is 5years.
