Well dear as you are saying that you have completed diploma in electrical engineering and wants to take admission in b.tech 2nd year.you can get it by lateral entry scheme.you have to apply for the entrance exam of your state and then if you clear that exam and get a good score then you will get admission in b.tech 2nd year.

yes, you can join in 2nd year in electrical department as lateral entry candidate. there are colleges like Anna university, Jawaharlal Nehru university etc... have separate counselling dates for lateral entry admission.to get notification about this see the respective college websites.

I am sure that every engineering college have separate seats for lateral entry candidates.

The only thing you need is to writer the entrance exam for the course.

The State or Central Government conducts the entrance exam to take admission into the course.

If you get the maximum marks in the entrance exam then you can easily find a good seat in one of the best engineering colleges.

Here as you did not mention the state to which you belong to it is tough to tell the exact entrance exam.

What you are referring to is known as lateral entry scheme. Under the scheme the diploma candidate is given admission into the second year of B.Tech course. It is recommended that candidate should choose the same stream for B.tech in which he/she completed diploma.

The procedure of the admission would be quite different from regular admission. There is no point trying to appear for entrance exams such as:

AIEEE

UPSEE

IIT-JEE

ISEET

The reason is that firstly they are only for candidates who have completed 12th standard. Secondly they do not offer lateral entry admission. As a matter of fact, IITs and NITs do not offer lateral entry admission at all.

The entrance exam you will have to appear for is known as Lateral Entry Engineering Test (LEET). But to appear for this entrance exam you must have scored 60 percent marks in diploma course.

Apart from LEET there are few other entrance exams as well. Most of these exams are conducted by the universities on their own. Those who have scored less than 60 percent marks may try for admission in these universities through the entrance exam.

It is also worth mentioning that few universities in India offer lateral entry admission on the basis of merit. There is no entrance exam for that.

Hi, hariom so you have completed 3 year engineering diploma in electrical engineering right?

as ankit said you can get admission in second year of b.tech by lateral entry scheme (but only in electrical branch) normally in every state they have an exam called LEET for this purpose , but some states do not have such exam. so in that case you can simply contact with the institutions , they fill seats on merit basis.

and it depends on from which university/college you want to do it. normally colleges have 5-6 seats in each branch for lateral entry. And there are many private universities which can provide you admission without entrance , but tuition fee is higher than government ones.

and if you have job and you are working you can Join IETE their AMIETE program is equal to B.tech

Yes there is one exam present if you pass that then you can take admission in any engineering college according to your rank. If in any college seat is vacant then you can also directly take admission. Some of the top engineering college’s are-

As you have mentioned that you have done diploma in electrical and you want to take admission in bachelor of technology.

Really its a good initiative to go for the Bachelor of technology.

But for this ,you have to appear for the Lateral Entry Entrance test that is LEET examination.For this exam you should have secured minimum of 60% of marks in diploma .

After clearing this exam with good rank ,you will be able to get admission in good colleges under different universities depending upon your rank.

There is one more more option for you is that you can also appear for the separate exams that are conducted by the different university itself.

After this you will be directly get admission in the second year of engineering.

Yes,you can definitely take admission into B.Tech second year soon after completing the Diploma. You need to appear for the Lateral Entry Exam which is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education. If you have qualified in the entrance exam,you can get admission into the B.Tech second year.

LEET - Lateral Entry Engineering Test


LEET Exam is conducted for Diploma candidates who want to get admission in B.E or B.tech courses. On the basis of LEET exam you will directly get admission to second year of B.E/B.tech. But for appearing in the LEET test,you must have to fulfill the eligibility conditions for the test.


The eligibility conditions for LEET Test :


-You must have completed your Diploma from a recognised Institute or any State Board of Technical Education.

-You must have cleared your diploma with minimum 60% marks and you must not have any live backlogs in Diploma.

-Your age should not exceed 28 years at the time of admission.


Exam pattern of LEET Exam :

There will be two papers as per details given below:

Paper I General

Paper II Professional


Duration of test : 180 minutes (150 Questions)

The question paper will contain multiple choice objective type questions of one mark each.


Paper-I : Contain 60 questions in all with 15 questions in each of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.


Paper-II : Contain 90 questions in the relevant engineering

should have 60% aggregate in your
polytechnic

and good percentage gives good

If you want to take admission in n.tech in 2nd year after diploma in electrical. Then you can get addmission. But there are different rules in different state. Like, in Kerala you have to write LET (Lateral Entry Test) after diploma for the addmission of b.tech. But in states like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, there is no need of Entrance Exams.

You can apply for LEET(Lateral Entry Entrance Exam) which is conducted for admission into 2nd year of Engineering courses.

If you have done Diploma in Engineering in IT then you will get admission into 2nd year of Engineering in IT stream.

So get yourself prepared for LEET because admission into good colleges will be given only those who perform well in the entrance examination.

The maximum age for applying for LEET is 28 years of age.

The entrance exam will have objective type questions related to your Engineering Discipline.
