From my point of view, you are asking about which subject to opt for optional subject in case of Civil Services examination being a candidate of bachelor's degree in engineering. Candidates are free to select any subject of their choice as optional subject in Civil Services mains examination. You can select engineering subjects or humanities subject or literature subjects as optional paper depending upon your interest.

There are different optional subjects like electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering etc. In case of humanities subject, you can select any subject like Sociology, psychology, Political science, History etc.
