]--The AFCAT is carried out every year and is controlled by the IAF. In 2011 the exam is held on March 27 in designated test centers.
--The AFCAT is a 2 hour long exam which will have objective type question. --Each of these objective questions will be provided with 4 options as answers.
--The candidate must select the correct one from the given option.
--The Syllabus of AFCAT exam will test students in
the areas like Reasoning, Numerical and verbal
ability. Other than these students will also be
tested in General awareness and Knowledge.
--The number of question will be 100 or more.
--For preparing for the AFCAT candidates must prepare
by solving previous years question papers and also
must refer to books and guides indented for this
exam. Students can also refer to other competitive exams like Bank PO, LIC, NICL etc.

IAF do not release previous papers in net since it is a secured armed force. even i couldn't find previous papers. u can find sample questions in www.jbigdeal.com

AFCAT will be of 2 hours with multiple choice of questions, and the sections are:

1. Reasoning
2. Numerical ability
3. Verbal ability (English)
4. General Awareness, GK
5. General Aptitude

The number of questions would be around 100+...

and the type of the question will be same like those in Bank PO, LIC AAO etc.

so you don't have to worry a lot.

below in the attachments section, I have attached some model papers of AFCAT exam.

you can download it.

as far as books are concerned for AFCAT, you can read any G.K books, or books for Bank exams, and other competitive exams because the question pattern are same.

The this year the AFCAT exam is going to be conducted on 27 March 2011.
The candidates applying for this exam should have to prepare following topics

1. Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test
2. Numerical ability
3. Verbal ability
4. General Awareness

The syllabus for the AFCAT exam is given below:
(a) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test – Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.

(b) Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest.

(c) Verbal Ability in English – Comprehension, Error Detection,
Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary.

(d) General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.

AFCAT exam compared to other is very easy to crack if u do serious study of afcat. i shud refer the books of afcat i.e R.Gupta, that is for total prepartion of afcat, u shud also refer the R.S.Agarawal apptitute book, it will help in studying english veryy well..
So go thru this buks, and do your studies seriously if u want to crack the exam.

ppr mainly consist of 100 marks containing subjects like general awareness, verbal ability, numerical ability and Reasoning and Military aptitude test.
total time duration is 2hrs.
