please tell me the books which should be followed for maths for preparation of gate,also tell me the kind of questions and which chapters to practice more

In my opinion no other book is as good as 'Tata mcgraw & hill's' for preparing for mathematics of gate.
It is the best book ever,for gate exam. Yo can also opt for books of 'upkar prakashan'. best of luck |

1 . Mathematical Logic: Propositional Logic; First Order Logic. Set Theory & Algebra: Sets; Relations; Functions; Groups; Partial Orders; Lattice; Boolean Algebra. Textbook : " Discrete Mathematics " by Tremblay and Manohar . 2 . Probability: Conditional Probability; Mean, Median, Mode and Standard Deviation; Random Variables; Distributions; uniform, normal, exponential, Poisson, Binomial . Textbook : " Probability , statistics and queuing theory " by S.C.Gupta & V.K.Kapoor 3 . Combinatorics: Permutations; Combinations; Counting; Summation; generating functions; recurrence relations; asymptotics. Textbook : " Intermediate Mathematics " , S.Chand publications , authors : B.V.Sastry and K.Venkateswarlu ( if i remember ) " Higher Engineering Mathematics " by B.S.Grewal for generating functions and recurrence relations . ( Bessel's formula , Lagrangian Polynomial ) " Introduction to algorithms " - Cormen etal ( CLRS ) for recurrence relations and asymptotics 4 . I think you should thoroughly go through NCERT of maths as well as comprehensive and T. S. grewal all these books are really helpful in cracking GATE. |

www.onestopgate.com/books these two sites are the best to find the maths question papers form the internet and if you need a book to prepare for the sam then i will suggest you to go for TATA Mc GRAW HILL book for maths as i think that one isthe best for maths and that was a unanimous decision that i have got from al the people preparing and appeared for gate.. hope you find it . bbye take care and all the best to you.. |

if you are serious about the exam of gate ..... then you should follow the math subject of b.s grewal... and also many books are available but you should follow only one book compleyely and after that you should solve a lot of questions... which give you good response in exam so best of luck |

it is right there is no other best book then Tata-Mcgraw Hill
you should follow it for your preparation but in market there is a lot of books which are having so good knowledge & simple formulas & having so much unsolved & solved questions |

if you want study more then H.K.DAS ,B.S .GAREWAL is good
option but if you want practice then ... GATE FORUM material is too good ... questions have different level ...so try hard level questions... important topics are Linear Algebra,permutation and combination, graph theory,probability... good luck |

in what i saw in this years gate paper,the questions were entirely based on the basics and there is no complications in them,if we know the basics we can very easily answer the questions,
so please tell me a text book which tells the basics in an very plain and simple way thank you |

for the preparation of maths for gate exam you can prefer to some books like :-
