IPS stands for Indian Police Service.For an IPS officer,you should appear for civil service exam. Civil Service exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) every year once to take qualified students into different service post in government sector. Educational Qualification:- You must be a graduate in any of the streams from a recognized university. Appearing in the final year of bachelor degree program are also eligible for IPS exam. Age limit:- min max General- 21yrs. 30 yrs. obc - 21 yrs 33 yrs. sc/st - 21 yrs. 35 yrs. Selection Process:- 1.Preliminary exam (civil service aptitude test) 2.Main examination 3. IPS stands for the INDIAN POLICE SERVICE, one can make a way through the civil service examination. To become an IPS officer you must crack CSAt exam which is conducted by UPSC. Eligibility Criteria is should be graduate from a recognized university in any stream (marks or percentage doesn't matter) age should be 21 to 30 years for SC/ST 5 year that means range of age is 21 to 35 For OBC 3 year that means range of age is 21 to 33 For PH 10 year that means range is 21 to 40 this relaxation in the uppere age limit nationality- Indian For more information you can visit www.upsc.gov.in |

For becoming IPS officer you have to apply for Civil Services examination which is conducted by UPSC every year.
You must be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognised university if you want to apply for Civil Services examination. The age must be between 21 to 30 years for General Category. There is age relaxation available for other categories : -For SC/ST it is 5 years. -For OBC it is 3 years. So if you want to apply for it then you must have above qualifications. To be eligible for this examination you should be qualified in under graduation in any stream with good percentage from recognized university .
Also the Aspirant's age should be 21 to 30 years and relaxation relation period is given to the Aspirant's like sc/st candidate for 5years i.e. they can apply for this examination up to 35 years, and for obc candidates it is 3 years i.e. they can apply for 33 years.Handicapped and widow candidates get the relaxation by 10 years . So dear aspirant if you are having a bachelor degree in any stream from a recognized university then definitely you can appear in this examination. To apply for Indian Police Service you should have minimum qualification of graduation degree. Only then you can appear for the Civil Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
The exam for Indian Police Service is conducted in two stages. First is preliminary stage where each candidate has to give to written tests. This exam is usually conducted in May/June. Only candidates who clear the preliminary exam are allowed to appear for next exam. Main Examination is the second stage of Indian Police Service exam. There are nine written tests in it that are followed by personal interview. You will have to clear all the written tests. For four papers, each candidate has to select 2 subjects from a list. IPS Eligibility 1. Only candidates of Indian origin are eligible. 2. Bachelor degree in any discipline. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years. 5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 6. Up to 5 years relaxation for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe. Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm for General/OBC/SC and minimum of 150 cm for Schedule Tribe. Female - 150 cm General/OBC/SC and minimum of 145 cm for Schedule Tribe. IPS entrance examination is mainly known as civil service examination. This examination is carried out by UPSC[Union Public Service Commission] once in a year. This exam has three stages : 1. To become an IPS officer you have to appear in the UPSC Civil Services Exams
Eligibilty to apply for this exam is: Educational Qualification : A Bachelors Degree in any discipline from a UGC/AICTE recognised University. Final year appeared/appearing candidates can also apply. Age Limit : General Category-21-30yrs on 1st August of the year of exam OBC-21-33yrs SC/ST-21-35yrs Attempts : General Category-4 times OBC-7 times SC/ST-Unlimited times Physical Requirements for IPS Vision 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. But one should have strong preparation towards the selection procedure to be placed in IPS which will be CSAT Exam (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Civil Services Main Exam Interview Here is the eligibility criteria required to apply for civil services exam. Academic Qualification : One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university. Candidates who are pursuing final year of Graduation can also apply for this exam but they should be able to show the proof of passing in Graduation by the time they appear for Interview Age criteria : General category : 21-30 years OBC category : 21-33 years SC or ST category : 21-35 years. You did not mention the highest level of academic qualification that you have. If you possess the above mentioned eligibility criteria, then you can apply for civil services exam. IPS is short for Indian Police Services.for IPS you have to write Civil Services exam that is conducted by UPSC.
Minimum required qualification for IPS- For Civil Services exam you need graduation degree from recognized college or university. Your age must be within 21 years to 32 years. There is relaxation in upper limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Physical Requirements- Height:- Male 165 cm & ST(not for SC and OBC) 160 cm. Female 150 cm & ST(not for SC and OBC) 145 cm. Chest:- Male minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female minimum 79 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Eye Sight:- 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good Eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near Vision J1 for Good Eye and J2 for worst eye. |
