To become IPS Officer, one has to go through the civil services examination being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.
The selection procedure for this is by, -CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) -Civil Services Main Examination -Interview Here is the eligibility criteria for this examination. Academic Qualification : -One should have bachelors degree with any of the stream from a recognized university. -Candidates who have appeared for final year exams of Graduation course and waiting for the result can also apply for this exam. Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category. -Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC/ST category. You did not mention your academic qualification. If you fulfill the eligibility criteria, you can appear for upcoming civil services examination. Here is the official website of UPSC. DETAILS ABOUT IPS EXAM IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam. Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam. But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate. In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years. The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years. Also you must be citizen of India. PROCESS BECOME A IPS OFFICER:- 1. Fill up the Application form. 2.Preliminary exam is consist of two papers. a) General studies -----150 marks b)From Optional subject -------300 marks 3.If you have qualify in Preliminary exam then you have to go for IPS mains exam 4.After completion of your main exam you have to go for Interview. EXAM DATE:- Notification Date - 04/02/2012 Last date of application - 05/03/2012 Preliminary examination - 20/05/2012. |

for apply in these examination you have to be Graduate from recognized university around 50% marks. age-between 21 to 28. govt time to time publish their vacancy in employment newspaper (comes weekly)and other newspapers. read them regularly. |

hi,
If you want to become I.P.S officer then you have to pass the graduation in any stream you want from the recognized university. I.P.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year. Eligibility criteria:- >pass the graduation from recognized university with minimum 50% marks. > Age limit:- For open category:-21-30year For OBC category :- 21-33year For ST/SC category:-21-37 year > Must be citizen of India. good luck! |

Indian Police Service exam is conducted by UPSC every year once.This exam is part of Civil service exam.

IPS - INDIAN POLICE SERVICE, to become an IPS officer one has to appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.
The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream of education from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. Apart from this the candidate applying for IPS has to under go a certain prescribed Physical standard. The Height for General male candidate should be 165cm and that to female should be 150cm and for SC/ST male candidate the height should be 160cm and that to for female candidate should be 145cm. Minimum Physical Standard The physical standards are important for the job profile and the rigorous training at the NPA, which includes weekly run for 10 k.m. in 60 minutes, route march for 25 k.m. UAC, Horse riding, rock climbing, assault course, PT obstacles, rope climbing etc. For IPS- Height Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) 160 cm Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm Chest Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Eye sight 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic. IPS stands for Indian Police Service [LEFT]ELIGIBILITY for IPS: A candidate must have completed their graduation Degree in any Descipline (B.A, B.com, B.E ) with atlest 55% from recognise universities. Final year students are also applicable. Age Limit: General category student:- 21-30 years. OBC relaxation in upper age +3 years. SC/ST relaxation in upper age +5 years. |

-You can apply for IAS/IPS exam which is conducted by UPSC (union public service commission). -You should be graduate in any discipline from a recognised university to apply for this exam. -Age limit for this exam is 21 to 30 years for general category candidates. -Age relaxation is available for SC/ST , OBC, physically handicapped and Ex-servicemen. -The number of attempts for general is 4 , for OBC it is 7 and for SC/ST till the age limit exceeds. -You have to pass the CSAT (civil service aptitude test) to become eligible for IAS mains. -There will be personal interview also after IAS mains. You need a minimum of graduation degree to become IPS Officer. However that is only the educational criteria. There are physical requirements that you too are required to meet to become IPS officer.
Eligibility 1. Only Indian citizens can apply. 2. A bachelor degree is mandatory to appear for the exam. Age Limit The age limit is 21 to 30 years for Civil Service Examination. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST. Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm (General), 160 cm (ST) Female - 150 cm (General), 145 cm (ST) Please remember that relaxation is only for ST. It does not include SC/OBC. Chest Male - Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm Female - Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm Eyes 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye Candidates suffering from night blindness and color blindness can not apply for IPS. If you meet this requirement then wait for the notification by UPSC in November and then apply for the Civil Service Examination. There are two exams first would be preliminary exam in May. This exam is more of qualifying exam. Only after clearing preliminary you can appear for Main Exams. Exam Pattern 1. Preliminary Exam 2. Main Exam Number of Attempts 1. General - 4 attempts 2.
