Minimum qualification required to appear for IPS exam?

IPS stands for Indian Police Service is the prestigious job in india after IAS(Indian Administrative Services).For joining in IPS,the candidate must qualify in the civil services examination conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Comission). The eligibility criteria in detail is given bellow:

• Educational Qualification
  • The candidate must hold a degree with any stream from a recognized university .In other word they must have graduation degree.Final year students are also eligible to apply.
• AGE Criteria
  • The candidate must have attained the age of atleast 21 years as on 1st august of the year of exam.
  • Maximum permissible age for general category students is 30 years.
  • There has been an relaxation of 3 years for OBC category and 5 years for SC/ST candidate.
• Physical qualification for IPS
  • Height
    • For Men : 165 cm
    • For Women :150 cm
    • OBC /SC/ST : Male - 160 cm and Female :145 cm
• Chest
  • Minimum requirement in the case of male candidates is 84cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm. In the case of female candidates the minimum requirement is 79cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm.
• Eye Sight
  • For Worse Eye :6/12 or 6/9 distant vision.
  • For good Eye :6/6 or 6/9 distant vision
  • Near vision for worse eye is J2 and for good eye is J1
    
• Another reauirement is to Run 10kms in 1 hour.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.

Qualification:- Pass graduation with any stream fron recginiced university.

Age limit:-

Prelims

Mains and

Interview


Every time a tough competition will be done in UPSC for various posts like IAS,IPS,IFS etc.


Eligibility for IAS :

Qualification :

- You must complete your Graduation Degree(No restriction in Min.Percent)


Age limits:

- You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.

- The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:

upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.

upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes(BC's)


Attempts :


- If you belong to the “Open Category” you can give the exam 4 times maximum.

- If you belong to the “OBC” you can give the exam 7 times.

- If you belong to the “SC/ST” you can give the exam as many times as you want. There is no restriction on the number of times.

Age limit is 21 to 30 years for open categories ans 21 to 33 for sc/st.
Open category candidate can attempt for 4 times ans sc/st can apply for 7 times.
Height must have 165cm for men and 150cm for women.

Eligibility for IPS exam
You must be 21 years (minimum) and 30 years (maximum) at the time of taking exam. SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen are given exemption of 3 to 5 years in maximum age limit.
People belonging to general category can appear for IPS exam four times, while OBCs can appear for seven times but no limit has been set for SC/ST. keep in mind, even appearing in just exam is counted as an attempt.
You also need to meet physical standards mentioned in application form.
