it is necessary to clear the entrance exams(i.e. NATA) for joinning b.arch?

Yes it is necessary to clear exam before you study B.ARCH.B.ARCH is a bachelor degree course in architecture,a five year long course at undergraduate level is one the longest courses at the undergraduate level.

B.ARCH is a technology degree in architecture just like engineering degree,it is a engineering degree in architecture in other words.hence like engineering courses,it is mandatory to clear a entrance exam before getting enrolled for the course,similarly clear a entrance exam is mandatory for B.ARCH.It is not possible to study B.ARCH without clearing a entrance exam.

Any technology degree requires to be cleared a entrance exam to study,it includes B.TECH,B.ARCH,MBA and all other high-profile technological degrees.

Hence it is not possible to study 5 year degree course of B.ARCH without clearing competitive/entrance exam.
