Selection of career field depends on the interest of the person. Now days, a lot of engineering graduates are striving for a job in banking sector. They can try for the job profiles of IT Officer, P.O, Clerk, and Specialist Officer. Salary packge for Officer level jobs falls between Rs.30,000/- to Rs. 40,000/- per month. Selection process includes written test and interview.

Re: Is it a right choice to go for banks after studying B.Tech? Are bank jobs cheaper?
There is no such thing as cheap job. I can understand your confusion regarding appearing for the banking exam. It is true that generally candidates are not recommended banking jobs if they have completed Bachelor of Technology course.
Generally B.Tech graduates are recommended to apply for Public Sector Undertaking or the Indian Engineering Service but not the banking exams by the Institute of Banking Personnel Services. However there are several Engineers who apply for the banking jobs especially women candidates since the bank working hours allow them to manage their house and yet work at the same time. Besides the salary is also good in banking sector these days. In my opinion you should apply for the PSU or IES however if interested in banking job, I will suggest to apply for the IBPS Bank PO. The salary of PO is good and which is why it can be considered. But do not apply for the Clerk job. I do not think that B.Tech graduate should apply for it when there are plenty of opportunities available. IBPS Bank PO entrance exam is for Public Sector Banks. There are total of 21 banks that accepts the Bank PO entrance exam. You can apply for it if meets the following criteria. IBPS Bank PO Eligibility 1. Your nationality should be Indian. 2. Need to complete graduation. 3. With no less than 60 percent marks. 4. A diploma/certificate/degree in Computers is required. 5. Having studied Computers in 12th or graduation is also accepted. 6. Must be 20 to 28 years old. 7. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 8. SC/ST is eligible for 5 years relaxation. 9. While 10 years relaxation for PWD.
