WHAT began as a standalone engineering college in the year 1985, is today a multi-campus, multidisciplinary institution. In 2006, SRM gained deemed university status, and today it offers courses in engineering, medicine, management, science and humanities, though it is known for its engineering college. Admitting students through a national entrance test, nearly 80 percent of the students hail from outside Tamil Nadu.

The Kattankulathur campus, spread over 600 acres, is almost a township with an auditorium and 100 online smart classrooms. The library resource centre houses 112,490 volumes of books comprising 42,522 titles, and subscribes to 192 national and 71 international periodicals as well.

The Semester Abroad Program sponsors meritorious students, to spend one semester at an overseas university such as MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UC Davis, Warwick and Western Australia. The Corporate Advisory Board initiative, the institute claims, facilitates collaboration between SRM and companies across industries.

SRM Research Institute, a unit of SRM University, is an initiative aimed at supporting applied research and engineering activities. According to the college, financial assistance is available in the form of 50 percent fee waivers to students who score over 90% in CBSE and above 95% in state board examinations.

A Founder’s Scholarship provides a full waiver plus a stipend of Rs. 1,000 per month to top state, SRMEEE, JEE and AIEEE rankers, sports persons and students from specific socio-economic segments. The campus currently has 15 hostels of which nine are for men, and six for women.

I am not able to understand that why everybody is say nice thing about SRM University , even no one is say bad commen on it. According to me every Institute have some good & bad feature . I thank even IITs also having some good factors as well as even bad factors so we should think that B.Tech course fee is around 600000 we shold apply our mind that it is so costly that middle class parent even cannot thing of SRM university this is only for high society people parents whose having Bussines in abroad & world class family even can thing about. So middle or even high society should try to GOVERNMENT colleges where they get in M-tech assistenship around Rs. 8,000 But in private u cannot get even Rs 1 discount.I am not sure that every student will get placement , in one class there is 300,120 student , i donot think each student will be placed. Apply ur mind go for NITs & IITs

I dont agree stating SRM is a good university. For everything they will charge you money. No professionalism, Nothing is organised, Teaching is not up to the mark. But its a college were you can enjoy the life nothing more than that. .

capitation fee for aerospace engineering in SRM

it is the worst engg college,they will charge you 8lacs in 4 years of btech and then what a duffer placement, my brother studied from there(chennai campus) and he is one of the top 20 in his batch in mechanical and got a package of just 1.3lacs per annum in a low profile company. i suggest every1 to study in any engg clg except srm chennai.

just have to say one thing.. after the IITs, Top NITs, BITS Pilani and some other exceptional colleges i think every college is good..... how can someone say that any college is bad.... I mean they can't have students studying in there just for the sake of it... for instance most of u might not have head about SIT(Siliguri Institute of Technology), West Bengal. Its not that big a college.... but u know a student from here cleared GATE with AIR 50 and was also offed a package of about 6.6 lakhs per annum.. and believe me.. I have been to the college... Its smaller than many schools u people might have been to.... its ridiculous how people can say that some college is good and not others.... See talent also matters..... so stop askingg questions like "Is so and so college good etc etc" coz really its what u make of the 4 years u r in a college that matters... Its not the college that gets u placed.. its u.. nd by u i mean THE COMPLETE YOU !!! not just ur studies but ur personality and how u carry out urself, presentability and many other factors....

I did EEE @ TCE in 90s. Paid Rs4500 as tuition for all four years together !!!!. Currently I live and work in USA. Though I got PSG,Guindy,REC (NIT now) my dad sent me here because my family lived near Madurai. I regretted missing REC and Guindy but I have reached where I am worthy. I have worked with several IITians, IIMians, MIT-USA etc etc.

The thumb rule -- whoever asks less money knows what education is. Don't buy it in College Mills(factories)

Yes, It is very good University. I am pursuing My PhD-Management from Modinagar Campus.

The Academic people( Dean, HOD(Management) and my Guide) are very humble and cooperative people. They are very supportive. Always extend their unconditional help. Other teaching staff/ Lectureres.Controller of Examinations are really knwledgeablle and livery people. Administrative Staff are also very well behaved. Really it is a great social service group in education sector near NCT Delhi.

This University is going to be one of the best Education Institutions of the world.
