Re: Which subjects I should choose after completion of 10th Class to become an IAS Officer?
You don't need to choose any specific subjects because candidates from Arts, Commerce and Science all are eligible to appear in the IAS exam. The only requirement in graduation degree. Although there are other requirements that you are suppose to meet in order to become IAS officer. To become IAS officer you will have to appear in Civil Service Examination by the UPSC. This exam is conducted every year and also selects candidates for the IPS and IFS too. It is important that you start preparing for the IAS exam well in advance rather than 2-3 months. Give yourself at least 6-8 months to prepare for the Indian Administrative Service Exam. There are plenty of responsibilities of the IAS officer. For instance in case of violence or natural disaster, he/she is the eyes and ears of the state government. His input plays a crucial role in taking decisions for the government. Not only IAS officer plays a role in deciding policy for the government but also has the responsibility to implement it. It means consistently traveling to places and checking whether things are being donw smoothly and within the given timeframe. Eligibility ~~ Only Indian citizens are allowed to appear for the Civil Service Examination. ~~ A graduation degree in any stream is enough to appear for IAS exam. Age Criteria 1. Age limit for IAS Exam is 21 to 30 years. 2. OBC - 21 to 33 3. SC/ST - 21 to 35 Number of Attempts General candidates are given 4 attempts to crack the IAS Exam. The limit for OBC is seven While there is no limit for the SC/ST candidates. |

Re: Which subjects I should choose after completion of 10th Class to become an IAS Officer?
The minimum academic qualification with which a candidate can become IAS Officer is by completion of Graduation.
Its not that you have to choose only particular streams at 10+2 and Graduation to be an IAS officer. You can choose the stream which you are interested and where your strengths and knowledge are being fully utilized. But one thing I can say that, choose the stream in accordance to the optional subjects for Main Exam. Better to have at least one optional subject of Civil Services Main Exam in your academic courses of 10+2 and Graduation. Here is the complete selection procedure to make entry into any of the civil service. Civil Service Aptitude Test Civil Service Main Exam Interview CSAT Exam consists of questions from the following categories Aptitutde Current Affairs General English In Main Exam, it will be on the optional subject that you have chosen while applying. Some of optional subjects for Main Exam are Commerce Economics Mathematics Civil Engineering Electrical Engineering Botany Zoology Chemistry etc. Choose the one which you are interested and opt for the streams in academic levels also accordingly. Then you can easily crack the Exam. Carry out preparation for Civil Services Exam from the very beginning of your Graduation. Wish you all the best. |
