Books recommended for preparation of Preliminary and Mains stage of Civil Service examination is :-

NCERT ( VI -XII).

Laxmikant - Indian Polity.

The Brief History of Modern India - Spectrum.

Indian Economy - Ramesh Singh.

Environment - Shankar IAS.

The Hindu/ Indian Express newspaper.

Monthly Magazine.

Instead of reading several books read a single book multiple times. Revision is key to success for examination.

Indian Polity of Laxmikanth and Indian History of Bipin Chandra are among the most recommended books for preparation.

You can take help of other books of private publishers if you do not understand any topics.
