I am a student of 4th B-tech with CSE discipline.I would like to apply for GATE .But,I have a doubt regarding GATE exam.
It is:

"I have heard that we can for GATE only for 2 times.Is it true?
Is there any limit for number of times applying for GATE exam?If it is so,what
are the limits?
Also, is there any age limit for applying?"

There is no limit for applying for a GATE exam.Even pre final and final year students too can apply for it.The GATE score is valid for 2 years, i,e.one can also take admission the following year of the appeared exam.

You have to pass out with graduation.there is no boundation of age.you have btech degree now you are able for gate xame.

todays GATE is very essential for higher education and also for getting jobs fo engineers.

there is no age limit or limitation for no. of attempts for appearing GATE.but problem is that for further studies there are certain age limit.such as for m.tech studies maximunm age limit is 28-30yrs.

GATE is also essential for applying JRF,Phd and PSU jobs also.they are shortlisting according to GATE scores.

If you are a GATE qualified then your score valid for 2 years.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) is an all-India basis examination conducted jointly by one Indian Institute of Science (IISc)and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), as well as it is one of the best post-graduate entrance exam of engineering for the master degree .

The GATE exam will lead you to the specialization for Ph.D,R & D field.

but GATE score card is valid only for two years after the publication of GATE result. so if you have any good result in GATE then you have to take admission in M.Tech within two years of publication of GATE result.

No there is no age limit for writing GATE exam and you can write it as many time as you can!!

but a mark or score of GATE is valid for only 2 years and if you get good in next chance then the better score will be your valid for applying!!

Firstly, it is not confirmed that you are in 4th year or in a 4th sem. If you are in 4th year then you are eligible for the GATE exam. There is not a specific limit and time quality for appearing in this. Rather you can apply it till at the age of 30. And moreover GATE becomes more beneficial if you have to continue you work as a project engineer or as a researcher.

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE:

a) Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

b) Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

c) Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology.

d) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examination conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

As i know there is no age limit for applying GATE exam.
you can apply for it when you are in pre final year ,final year or later and is score card is valid upto two years.

No it's not true. You can write GATE exam as many attempts you want, no restrictions. There are no limits for attending the exam.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is an entrance exam to qualify for the M.Tech course held by The IITs. It does not have any limit as such. The Eligibility criteria as per the official website is:


Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
