Yes, you are right.

There is negative marking in the WB JEE Exam. It has multiple choice questions. And, if you answer wrongly 1/3rd of mark will be deducted. So, unless you are very clear about the answer, do not attempt it. No wild guesses. Not only it leads to negative marking, the number of negative marks go against you when resolving several students who have equal net marks. The student who has least negative marks is placed at the top among equal marks scorers.
