There are a lot of entrance exams in this area. The most common is the All India Entrance Exam. Then there is the entrance exam conducted by IIT. Also most of the states will have their own entrance exam too.

IIT GATE Exam is conducted for admission into various Postgraduate Programmes in Engineering / Technology / Science / Pharmacy & Architecture.
TNPCEE
Anna University, Chennai conducts an all-India entrance test (TNPCEE) every year for admission to various professional and technical courses offered by many colleges/universities in Tamil Nadu.

there are various entrance examination for studying B.Tech in India. but to appear in all the entrance examination of B.Tech you must pass class 12 or pursue class 12 with science with the subject mathematics, physics and chemistry.


there is one all india basis entrance examination for studying B.Tech which is called AIEEE. the form fill up of AIEEE is going on. last date of form fill submission 14.01.2011.

then to take admission in B.Tech in IIT you have to appear in IIT JEE entrance examination. IITs are the best technical institute in India now. so you should try for it.

then there are state base entrance examination for B.tech for each state. like WBJEE for west bengal state. if you appear in the state based entrance examination then you will be able to take admission in B.Tech only in your own state institution.

i think it is better to all three type of entrance examination to take admission in B.Tech. because if you appear in AIEEE then there will a more opportunity to choose the best college throughout in India. as IITs are the best so you must try for it. at the last if you are unable to get chance in previous two then it will help you to take admission in B.Tech.


if you have completed diploma then there is another way to take admission in B.Tech directly into second year. then you may take admission in B.Tech through lateral entry. for this you have to appear in lateral entry entrance examination. there is also one way to enter into B.Tech 2nd year directly if you have good marks in diploma.

The minimum qualification is 12th with PCM (60%) mendatory

There are various entrance exam through which admission in B.TECH are taken for eg :

we have lots of exams running in india for admissions into ENGINEERING FIELD.

these are the list

1.IITJEE (INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECH.. JOINT ENTRANCE EXAM)
