is VIT Vellore a good college? i heard that there are many drug addicts.. is that true?

Thats a really controversial topic and if you see the internet is filled with all kinds of praises as well as abuses on VIT college.

Dont know why people consider this college as bad but I can see this college is quite good.

So of the allegations on VIT are(Might be fake too)

1)They paid few magazines to rank their college in top 10 or top 20 best engineering college in Indai
2) They are also accused of admitting students on the basis of money.
3) Their placements are fake and dont provide good job opportunities
4) inappropriate fee structure

I would say that there is no Proof on all the above allegations on the colllege. I am no VIT student but according to me its a pretty good college and there are really good students who have passed out of this college

and about the drug addicts. There is not even 1 college in India or in the world where there are no drug addicts or smokers or drunkers. So thats natural to see in all kinda colleges

Hello......VIT is definitely a great world class place to do your engineering.All the allegations are absolutely nonsense.My cousin has done her engineering from VIT and now she is is AMERICAN BANK.
It has a great dual degree programme where you can get B.TECH and MBA in 5 years.
It was ranked among top 10 institutions of India which is absolutely correct.

One of my friend is 2009 passout of VIT VELLORE and he had qualified IES also in the following year. So, according to him its good college if you are good and have potential to take something from there.

If there is some positive then definitely there are some negative sides as well.But overall VIT,Vellore is considered to be one the best deemed colleges in India.
The placements facilities are good enough,talking of the 2009 batch,lots of students were placed in reputed companies like TCS,Honeywell and many others.I can tell you this because some of my friends were among them.

Talking of the hostel facilities,its really upto the standards.As you have told that there are many drug addicts.I am not cent percent sure about this fact but nowadays this has become a common thing and a major problem in most of the Engineering colleges.

Remember one thing,whatsoever the case is,if you are dedicated then no force can change you.After all we have to adjust ourselves to some extent.

this is indeed a very bad scenario.esp among the youngsters staying away from home.

this is true not only for VIT but for all the places.. yes since VIT gets rich spoilt children

in more nos it is much more there but you have to control yourself everywhere.

Collegewise reputation of VIT is good, placements are good, if you are focussed good

student and performer you can make good career from VIT,

But this is true everywhere, if you miss on studies and all you will not be getting good job

VIT can be considered an average college, but only for good students

Alchohol and drugs are prevalent, and it is true. But then except for drugs other things are there at most places.

It is also a very costly college to study in and the investments are not justified by

the jobs you get from there, people spend 20+ thousand easily, living cost is so high

in the end you get so called good jobs which pay you 20000 only... what a mockery

kids wasting parents hard earned money.

I would suggest to goto some other average college and study well , you'll have to spen a lot less and the jobs you will get will be same as VIT,

Being a engg. student , i can tell you about this college in much detail.
First, it is considered as second best institute only after BITS in private college of india, so undoubtfully, it is a good institute.

Engg curriculum is very good with lot of extra activities.
Placement is also very good with avg package around 4 lakh.

To get admission in this institute , you have to clear VITEEE (although difficulty level is decent) , then on the basis of your rank , you will be alloted branch.

Application forms for VITEEE are expected to be available by December end in designated post offices. The form may also be obtained by sending a request to VIT along with a demand draft. A candidate can also obtain the form directly from the VIT University as well.

it basically depends on d type of course u r lukin 4...tokin abt the maths stream...it is a gud option!!..but considering d bio stream..u should better go 4 srm university..u must hav heard abt the international science congress..it was in d news..dis tym srm hosted it..and d pm was the guest of honour!!

I'm called for first day counseling at VIT. But I can go only for 4th day counseling due to my own problems. Can I get CSE on 4th day counseling? According to last year's data, half of the CSE seats were available on fourth day also. Will it be same case this year also? Thanks a lot.

I am form a govt. hr sec. school in namakkal.My 2 score is 1156 with engineering cut off of 199.75.My idea is to join Computer Science Engineering in a good college(good in technology,communication and education).I have an opportunity to join in VIT for a full free seat under their STARS(Support The Advancement of Rural Students)scheme.For this cut off i have definitely a chance to join in Anna University CEG campus.Anna university is the most preferable and VIT is really a fore runner in all standards. So suggest me which one would i choose. which would suit for me. suggest me with some logical and statistical reasons.

Ofcourse VIT offers a international environment to study but keep VIT as the 3rd option .it would b better.

It is hard to get the truth out of any students studying in VIT presently because they're all under contractual obligation to keep mum the minute they sign up for their courses.Through various interviews with ex students who are free from those shackles I can give you an honest opinion about t.
1.There is nothing exceptional or world class about the institution. The ranking only appears in a money influenced publication of a certain magazine.
2. Students are encouraged to mug up & stick to the material. Thinking out of the box n being creative is certainly frowned upon
3. Everything done there is mainly focused on one single purpose : Generate money through any means possible
4. It has lost its accreditation several times during its run for various reasons , one of em being hiring double the no of students than are legally permitted
5. Majority of the teachers have been previous graduates from the same institution, which means u get your seniors imparting knowledge to the Juniors
6. Placements are usually rigged and show up high in number but dont let that be a deciding factor. 75% of the students hired are chucked out by the end of their training periods. NO matter what you specialize in engg you end up getting hired by IT majors during placements only to be thrown out by end of traing period

Money it generates usually pumped in to renovate campus or such activities thus utilizing a loop hole in the tax system to avoid paying taxes

VIT vellore is a moderately good university. Not as good as India Today rates it. But the facilities are pretty good. The administration is a bit strict though.

As for drug addicts, they are there in every college.

through Education point of view Yes it is a very reputed college even though it is some students dream college . It become popular in very less time. Drug addict no information , every positive thing also have some negative side .
